Hello fellow riders!

I'm a proud owner of a 1998 Valkyrie to where im now installing a fairing to reduce wind fatigue on myself. The fairing came unpainted and now is the time to get some paint on it.
I've been to a couple paint shops here in Finland with the codes:

Y137M Pearl Ivory Cream
PB255M Pearl Coronado Blue

Unfortunately the responses that i've gotten from them are that they are unable to make the paint with these codes so now i started wondering - is there a difference between US and Europe color codes?

When I had my National Cycle panniers painted to match my 97, the shop did not use Honda paint codes nor colorite brand paint.  They were able to mix a color that perfectly matched.

They also matched the tape pinstripe by sight and later from that supplier found a chart that matched to the Honda color chart for he stripes.

Point is IMHO a good body shop can match from visual and not be reliant on factory paint codes.

they should be able to match it up or darn close.  I know when I had to have my newer 2014 hyundai sonata lower rocker panel painted from the salvage yard black to car color of gray,  the paint code the body shop had from factory was good up to a point.  Apparently,  that SAME paint code had about 7 color combinations of that particular gray used in 2014 and he layed them all out (sample chips) comparing to the gray color of my car and 2-3 were nearly identical, but 3-4 were way off not matching.  I had to get the wife involved since he asked me MY opinion and I told him I was color blind, so let me get the misses.

Rockyview County, Alberta 2001 Interstate

My interstate is the reverse of the more common black over red color scheme. Do the same color code #'s still apply, or was the red modified for my bike?
Someone, a while back, posted a Valkyrie color scheme chart that listed all years and color schemes, but it did not identify the difference between the two opposite black/red schemes for the Interstate.
I was told there were only a few done in my bike's reverse color scheme. I'm thinking that because it is a Canadian Bike with metric speedo and Serial #...even more rare.

When we first tried to match the strawberry and cream (the color discussed) by the Honda color number , the paint company indicated the colors were patented and could not be copied(?).
We had a color scan done (at no charge) to get the codes. The match on my bike is as perfect as I am able to see. If you need the strawberry code , I can get it when I go to the shop. I do not have the cream code as I got rid of the can before writing down.

The colour codes are for/from Honda. If you get the pain from them, then you're good to go.

But take those same "part numbers" to someone else, and they have nothing.

Colorite is your best choice. They give you the top coat and the base coat. This will match the OEM colour.

But as mentioned, any good shop can scan and custom match any colour. The question would be is it going to cost you more than just a stock colour off the shelf? Is the fairing far enough away from other colours that a slight difference won't be noticed?

My interstate is the reverse of the more common black over red color scheme. Do the same color code #'s still apply, or was the red modified for my bike?

Yes, it's a 2001, a different black over red ( Pearl Cheyenne Red with Gloss Black ), rather than the red over black ( American Red ). It is a factory colour, and along with almost all the IS colours, I like them a lot.

Someone, a while back, posted a Valkyrie color scheme chart that listed all years and color schemes, but it did not identify the difference between the two opposite black/red schemes for the Interstate.

The years and colours are mostly here.
