Happening a lot lately.  I don't believe what I type is offensive.  I verrrry rarely use profanity.  I try not to single people out, unless I am speaking directly to that person.  I usually drop out of "discussions" when I see someone is getting dumped on by too many people.  I don't even enter discussions when I see certain people already in them (and they're in EVERY damn one) which further limits my participation.

This place isn't any fun any more.  Hasn't been for some time now.

I agree.  The one I had pulled was a link to a youtube video of a movie scene that showed the origin of a certain phrase in context that a NY congresswoman had appropriated inappropriately.

Along with not getting notifications for about 4 years now I too have noticed some posts are gone - poof in a puff of smoke .

I assumed it's just a vagary of the board. Anything else seems a bit off.

Besides the various motorcycle and Valkyrie related posts on the general board, it seems to have
become a gathering place for a bunch of us who mostly only see each other here to talk... and sometimes
YELL. I have a double handful of people on my ignore list, most of them don't even come around here
anymore. There's a bunch of people on here who see things differently than I do, they aren't the ones
on my list. Usually (not always) when my posts disappear it is because I didn't notice that someone else
had posted while I was composing, and I failed to hit send twice, so sometimes it is user error. Assuming
no one else has posted while I was composing this, I always read the posts of the three people whose
posts precede this one...

Technically, "Decomposing"...   cooldude

(this has to do with the class I am in right now, on the chapter "Luminous Flux Maintenance", and decomposition came up while reading this post...)

Since the old chat room went obsolete (admin knows why and I wont get involved again in that discussion) IMHO things have changed not for the better

The old chat room did provide instant feedback and almost real time exchange of ideas ride plans and the like.

For instance in 2006? I was invited to the upsanddowns ranch on my way to the Bushtec factory and also to meet Charliemac altho we have never met

Many members who I call dear friends were "met" thru that chat room

While it is true that Inzanes are always fun and the chance to interact with those who are but an avatar is very cool, the vitrol  on the general board is the opposite of very cool.

I dont mind posts dissapearing, even mine, the Admin has a thankless job

I do hope the membership holds steady and Inzane's continue to be profitable for the owners of this club..  I am still on the fence on this year (7-8 days of travel ) and want to go on record as saying I am grateful to Connie and Mike for their offer of an ancient Valk to ride from Surprise to Taos this year.

Just to clarify, when I remove a post I also remove any post that quotes the one I originally removed.

The chat feature is still functional.

I am a "long time" Admin on Stromtrooper.com, and I created a section called "The Trooper Arena", it is not a general section and it allows a lot of freedom to post and or discuss what members feel the need to. Threads from this section do not show up on a member feed "unless" they sign in with the given password. No I don't allow porn, racist behavior, or BLATANT personal attacks......but yeah that's the only rules. I have NEVER had to delete a post or thread in that section, I find overwhelmingly the community doesn't say things online which they wouldn't say in person. This is just a suggestion of course, but having a more rule free section, allows for very little moderation required/needed.  Wink

To my knowledge, I've never had a post or comment purged.  (Just to make clear I have no hatchet to grind in that direction, or any other, really).  I used to really enjoy this forum.  Enough to check it every day and felt free to post when I thought I had something worthwhile to add or that might be of interest to others.  For the past years, I really wanted an Inzane to be scheduled closer to my neck of the woods so it might be feasible to participate and meet everyone.  I have to say I don't feel that way anymore.  I agree that being an Admin is no fun and definitely not worth the paycheck.  That is not the problem here, however.  This is also not to be a slap in the face of those I have come to really enjoy hearing from and sharing with and learning from.  Sadly, many of those seem to have disappeared as well.  It's probably just me.  Best to all.

When you find yourself typing a pointless post just to reply and say how the VRCC is no longer fun for you, well that's really the point isint it. You should just NOT.

I come on here everyday and enjoy almost everything others have to say.

If there's a post I don't like I don't read it.

If you don't like it here, just don't log on.   Let the rest of us enjoy it

I guess I agree with Chrisj CMA, but I would say, go ahead and post what you want to say.  I have always said, "you are welcome to your opinion, no matter how wrong it is."  I can agree or disagree with anyone.  I try not to get mad, I try not to intentionally say something that I think will piss someone off, but I do enjoy making a snide remark or two when someone makes a totally absurd post.  I truly regret all the old timers that have left the board because they didn't like the constant bickering and insults, but hey, that is your prerogative.  I wish people could just refrain from opening a post that they know will just piss them off, and stick around, post on the less controversial MC related posts, if that is all you can handle.  Just my $0.02.

There are many roads I choose not to travel.   Rough, gravel and potholes strewn ones in particular.
Having said that, if you come to a crossroad, pick one that is closer to your liking.

...

In fairness it's not ALL of us.  I could count on two hands the members that regularly stir up the sh!t storms.

What do this small subset of posters need to do differently?

Learn to communicate respectfully.  Lose the necessity to reply and correct every post with which one disagrees (Pick a few.  That will do.).  Stop posting the same theme over and over again as links or quotes from somewhere else.  If you've posted a few people already know where you stand.  You don't change anyone's views by saturation.  If there is someone who's views you know you don't like either ignore that person or simply don't bother to reply to his posts.  Go for a ride.

Lest you think my perception of the issue is only with those on the other side of the political/social spectrum from my own, the majority on my list are from my own political/social bent.
