What happend Paul?
Moved the bike whilst standing on the left side of it. I normally sit astride. Must have had it leaned over slightly and as I pushed it forward the kick stand dragged on the ground and folded up. I resisted gravity as much as I could so the bike would touch down like a feather. I was going to ride today and in preparation I had filled the tank with gas and Berryma B12 last night. To the brim. As I prepared to position my butt on seat to raise the bike back up I noticed the smell of gas. Moving away from the bike I quickly placed my oil change pan under the side of the tank to catch the gas coming from the gas cap. Now I can't get in the correct position to heave bike upright. A quick phone call and 2 fireman arrive to assist me.

My 01 interstate sits a few inches from the wall - which is covered in thick foam. The kickstand rests on 2x4's.
Glad there was no damage
I have dropped mine when forgetting the kickstand was not down. It sucks. Ergo the egg crate foam on the wall. Oss
never thought I would get to say ergo on this forum, thanks for the opportunity

I must confess several years ago I had washed the bee and was sitting on it waxing the tank and dont know why but put the stand up. (I did have a couple of brews in me ) when i finished the wax and removal I just got off and over she went but the engine guard caught it and it was only on about a 45* angle so righting her was not a problem. Only and last time I sat on it waxing

When backing the bike out of the garage I will have the engine running and in gear so I can move forward if anything starts to go pear shaped. I always, until today, sit on the bike to move it, and always look down to check kickstand. Until today.

I have a picture on my phone when I dumped Phatt Ghurl in my garage. My neighbor wuz NOT going to take the picture cuz I had the middle finger of my right hand fully extended and my other fingers clenched. He took the picture-FINALLY as I would NOT lower finger til I had a record of it. And Phatt Ghurl was resting on her right side. Oh well she still rideable and when I duz ride I iz HAPPY! RIDE SAFE.

A very nice bike, I love the pinstripping and the chrome is perfect. Its a pain when they get to the tipping point, glad you set her down easily. So you said firemen helped you get it up? Not that I would know this but have heard its only a small spot on the engine protector and the bottom corner of the bags that get anything at all.

It is only just the crash bar and a small area of the Saddlebags I let it down slowly so the saddle bag didn't get hurt at all.

Had a similar issue happen.
After installing my "new to me" hard bags (American National "alien head" looking ones) I was standing on the left side of the bike backing it off my HF lift when the kickstand caught the "hump" between the ramp and platform and tilted the bike over to the right just enough to throw it off balance. Tried my damndest to hold it but to no avail, over she went! It fell quite harder than what you're describing and I figured the right hard bag gotta be crushed! And I just installed them!! Being irritated and pi$$ed-off (and having surge of adrenaline) I heaved the dang thing up and rolled it off the rest of the way. Lo and behold the bag just had a scratch on it . Was really impressed with these bags after this "crush test"!
Luckily my Lab, who is extremely loyal and follows me around everywhere (and will lay down, usually underfoot) just 10-15 seconds before the "drop" got up and moved from where the bike landed!!

Britman, I am glad you didn’t get hurt and the bike suffered only slightly. The fuel cap on mine leaks too. Just so you know. . It is good to know that I am not the only guy capable of having such a mishap.

I have a built-in remedy for the garage tip over. My bike shed is 10 X 12. The first interstate rolls in as close to the wall as possible. I then push it up and shim the stand, so it's right on the wall (hits mirror). Then the second interstate goes in with maybe 2 inches of clearance between the doorway (left) and 1st bike (right)(and the hwy pegs must be up). If I put the second bike on the stand, I can't get out. So I lean the 2d bike bag rails on the first bike bag rails (left in gear). I still put down the kickstand out in the air, so if it goes over that way it doesn't hit the tool tower. But it never falls over. It can't. I have to roll a bike out of the shed before I can drop it. But I have only rarely dropped a bike in private. My drops are in pubic so people can be amused and entertained. (actually, only a few times altogether)
