Just removed this from the tourer I just got home.  Can anyone tell me what it is?  Seems very well made.  What might be a fair price for another member here?  Thanks!

One of our members posted measurements and photos of this, so others could build it.  pay I'd $50 and shipping.

I saw that one but this has a bolted in bottom section.

OK after a LOT of searching I fond this thread.  This appears to be the original Honda hitch.

It's either an original or one of the ones that da prez has made up.

I forget exactly what I paid, but think it was $200 + shipping, with the longer bolts and spacers to mount it. I too wanted the removable base.

I'll remove the chrome one piece I have and replace it with this painted one.

I bought the hitch in the photo from Honda. It was the last one they had and said they could no longer get them. After much research , I started making them. The one in question is an original hitch as I made a minor change that I recognize.  The removable bottom is not an issue of strength. It is convenient. I have pulled a thousand pounds a few times. Stopping is the issue. The hitch is a full frame mount. I would never use one that clamps to the saddle bag brackets. Not even to hold my flags.

thanks da prez for clearing it up.  I'm moving it along to another member here.  If he doesn't take it I'll post it in the classifieds

It looks like a Show Chrome (Big Bike Parts) , I don't think Honda made a hitch for the valk or any bike that I know of.

It is a hitch doc according to my research.

I have this hitch and it is Not Honda. and Not Hitch Doc.  Can't remember where I got it from.... it's been 18-19 years. Might be Big Bike Parts. I may have gotten it from HDL?  Bought a lot of stuff from them back then.
And what is the problem about it being 3 pieces bolted together?  I've never had to go back and tighten any bolts.  I've pulled a Cycle Mate trailer all over the US.  It's rock solid.  You just have to get the spacing right at the fender bolts.

It is Big Bike Valkyrie hitch. Was the first to come out for the Valks. I have one on my 99 I/S. Bought it around 2000 at Inzane. Was built by a Valk owner and he made them and sold through Big Bike Parts somehow. Some of the early valksters prob. could tell you more. Works like a charm. Very sturdy. I use with my trailer and a cooler carrier. Many miles.

I moved the hitch along to another forum member so please no more PMs offering to buy it.  Everyone ride safe!
