Don’t judge. Today was the first of a few. I don’t normally ride unprotected but on occasion I do. Doing some cooking on my day off. Needed to run to the store this morning. 59*, shorts and t-shirts it was. I did wear a helmet.

Rode the Interstate to CostCo yesterday.... Guy sitting in his truck watching me load my CostCo purchases into the trunk on the Valk, after I finished he speaks up.

"Wow. THAT was impressive! I saw you walk up with that cart and was thinking no WAY can he get all that on a motorcycle, but not only did you get it all on there, you didn't even use the saddle bags!"

This can swallow a whole cart.

That appears to hold the real possibility of danger.  If you get too much weight behind that rear wheel you can lighten the contact of the front tire to the road causing a serious impact on steerability.  It could be useful so long as you're careful not to overweight the rear boxes.

You must be "special" parking in the no parking zone. You might as well just take the handicap spot or park on the sidewalk.

LOL!  I always thought those parallel lines meant only vehicles narrower than this may park here.   Smiley

I tend to park on the sidewalk myself, after making sure I won't be blocking anyone's path, egress or ingress in any way, but what I find more amusing is that although Mr. Head works at a grocery store, it does not appear that is the store he himself shops at, since Wal Mart is not the store he works at.....  Wink

Busted ! (On both parts) I've been parking in that spot for so many years now, I don't even think about it. Shame on me.  Embarrassed To be clear though, it is at a concrete lamp pole. No blockage of a Handicap spot is occurring. With rider employees parking there, I took it for granted it was ok.
As to the competition, I also admit defeat. At one point in my life they were the "devil's store". I've gotten older and lazier. (But mostly, I didn't want to talk to any of my fellow employees on my day off)  Smiley
Bob (baldo) is the dedicated one. We were on a ride in Connecticut (I think) with baldo, Oss, Hook, Hard6 . It was POUNDING rain and Bob forgot his rain gear. We stopped at a Dunkin Donuts (I think) and he looked like a wet rat. BUT, he held his ground and wouldn't cross the street to Walmart for some gear.  Smiley

In synopsis, I will readdress my Walmart parking spot. But, I doubt I'll visit my store on my day off. 8 days a week is enough.  Wink

A lot of cycles around here at WalMart park right upfront by the doors on the sidewalk which I think should be 1st warned, then 2nd offense, ticketed.  Parking in those white painted lines I think is fine though since not 5-10 feet in front of the door on the sidewalk doing no harm as long as safe and not blocking anything.

Wrong.  No first warning not ok to park in a no parking zone.  All should be ticketed. This is one small reason people look at us in a bad light.
“Damn hoodlums think they own the place” is exactly what my grandpa would have said. Then ran over the bike on his way to a parking spot and begged rider to call police 2funny

A lot of parking lots around here have little corner spaces of white lines (or no lines), surrounded by concrete dead-men (parking stops, with enough space between to ride the bike in).  No one but a motorcycle or a bicycle can get in there anyway.  It's hard for anyone to hit your bike in there, and no one has ever objected to it to me.  It's not handicapped, it's not a fire lane, and it's not marked no parking.  It can be up front, but I think of it as leaving a full space for other vehicles (as well as keeping my bike safe).

Though I almost never shop on my bikes.  Except maybe a gal of milk from the 7/ll on the way home.

I hate shopping (for real), so I take the truck and load it up so I don't have to go back for a few weeks.

The cross lines mean NO PARKING !  If someone pulled even a small car on that spot would it be ok? NO.
They lut those lines there for a reason.

I have a handicapped tag on Phatt Ghurl and the mirror dangly in my cage. At the wally wurlds i frequent I park my M/C near the light poles with the jersey barriers in the striped part of the lot towards the front. My M/C has NEVER been ticketed or towed or hit. I could put it in a wheelchair space if one wuz available BUT I chose while on Phatt Ghurl to leave a full space open for the cage that might need it. You wanna rail at someone rail at the dumb asses WITHOUT the handicap permit that use handicap parking cuz they are Only gonna be a minute!  Lips Sealed Yeah-Right!  tickedoff Besides I've already checked with management and L E Os at the stores i frequent and they-management and L E Os-are okey dokey with it. Tempest in a tea pot. There has GOTTA be other things to worry bout sides where we park our M/Cs! I WILL continue to do what I've been doing and NOT lose 1 seconds sleep over it. RIDE SAFE.

After I got griped out (More than once) for being rude and and inconsiderate for parking my motorcycle in a regular car parking spot, I quit caring, and just park where it's safe and doesn't impede anyone else.

Interesting responses; some rather twisted.

To my knowledge few if any cities have ordinances regarding parking in private lots other than marked handicapped spaces or possibly marked loading zones.

Those little triangular marked off spaces in shopping center parking lots are only because their shape does not fit the parking space pattern.  If you can park your motorcycle fully within that triangle you're inconveniencing no one and in fact leaving a real space open for someone else.  I'm always a bit concerned about parking in a full sized space in a parking lot as to whether someone will come whipping in not seeing the bike soon enough.

As to hitting a vehicle in a parking lot regardless of where it is parked, I will be please to call the police if I don't kick his ass first.  If you should actually intentionally run into a vehicle because you don't like where it's parked you may find it to be a very expensive legal lesson.

Yeah yall
Have fun with it 2funny park where you want when you want and make all the others that ride bikes look like assholes.  But hey that is my take on it.
Also if concerned about someone “whipping” it in and hitting your bike park it towards the back of the spot so it can bee seen. Just sayin.

An issue around here is people parking their scooters or m/c in the striped area adjacent to a handicap spot and often it's between two adjacent HC spots. They don't feel that's part of the HC spot so park there whenever they like....much to their surprise when I call the LEO's and they get ticketed. I watched one guy get mad talking to the cop his actions became aggressive, ended up getting tazed. His bike got towed and he got transported. A few months back I watched a guy get out of his van with the drop down ramp and he was on a wheelchair. When the ramp came down and unfolded, it knocked over a scooter sitting in the striped area. About 20 minutes later the scooter guy returned at the same time the HC guy did....big verbal explosion on that one. The HC guy called the cops and the scooter guy got a free lotto ticket, payable in large denominations.

Lines between handicap spots are for handicap to enter-exit with lifts, wheel chairs and other equipment.  No one should ever use them.

The only way I'll park in the little end corners in lot lanes if if they're surrounded by dead-men (or inside a pole).

Otherwise you have a real good chance of an idiot rounding the 180* turn too sharp and knocking you over.

A lifetime of driving shows that some licenses should NOT have been granted.

PS: I appreciate handicap parking, but sometimes it is a bit irritating to go into a big store with 40 of them all up front, and one car using them.   I still don't park there.

I appreciate the need for them (though I don't need them yet - my wife is much closer in that regard than me), but one more than one occaision I've thought they went overboard on how many they have / think they need.

Another thing that gripes me is that some individuals with HC designations think that it gives them a "free pass" on being sloppy on maneauvering around the parking lot. One particular a-hole at the Aldi parking lot thought his HC meant he could force me away from where I was (NOT blocking HC access, but I WAS blocking the path HE wanted to take). If you can't handle your car (with or without the HC), then you shouldn't be operating it, period.

Even when I was visiting home (and Mom had an HC ), if she wasn't with me- I didn't use them.

Amen on that "some licenses should not have been granted". My sister is a driver's license examiner in KS and she has some tales .

And motorcycles have the same rights as any other vehicle to parking spots.

When pulling a trailer you need to have a minimum 10% - 15% of the GROSS weight of the trailer as tongue weight. A 450 lb trailer would need a tongue weight of 45 to 67.5 lbs. I adhere to these calculations and have been doing so for many miles. Have driven the Blue Ridge Parkway and other roads of the area including the Dragon and have never held anyone up.

I used to feel the same way about the "evil empire" . They for years drove down wages for us in retail along with making most part time and no healthcare. But like I said, I've gotten old and lazy.

Really?? Not anywhere near a Handispot, no blockage at all, just a lamp post back corner. BS. Sure don't look exactly like you say from the google map picture. Looks like you were parked right there just behind the black SUV next to the lamp pole near the moving Caddy in the "too frickin lazy to walk my fat azz first row spot" striped off Handicap area.

I hate seeing bikes parked anywhere in the striped off areas of the handicap spots. No other reason other than being too frickin lazy to walk and gives all real riders a bad image.

I'm sure everyone's grandma says "well bless his heart, he's on a big ass bad Valkyrie, he can park right up here where I have to watch out for his BAB Valk backing out and I can drive my electric buggy way around it".

Shocked you can believe what you choose. If you want to reread my “busted reply”, I didn’t say I wasn’t in a striped off handicap area. I said I was next to the concrete lamp pole, which does not block any egress . In your pic it would be in front of that lamp post. (Who is spewing lying bullshit now ?) In retrospect I understand that ALL of the painted stripe area is “off limits”, regardless if it’s not blocking any handicapped space. I believe I said I would readdress it. Have yourself a wonderful day “Bro”, and bless your heart.  Smiley

Well hell why didn't you say so. I thought you were parking in the striped handicap area. I didn't know you were next to the concrete lamp pole IN THE STRIPED OFF HANDICAP AREA!!!

I owe you a beer or something I guess.

This is truly refreshing! A bitter argument with vitriol and venom being slung around, and it's actually about motorcycles, not politics!

Busted ! (On both parts) I've been parking in that spot for so many years now, I don't even think about it. Shame on me.  Embarrassed To be clear though, it is at a concrete lamp pole. No blockage of a Handicap spot is occurring. With rider employees parking there, I took it for granted it was ok.

I'd say your admission of "Busted" (guilty) was just more lying bullshit answers. Keep up the good MC rider image "Bro". I believe all the trusting BS you spew.

Smiley
