One person, (in this case a judge) does not say much about the state of CA and it's agenda.  As correct as this judge may be, the Nineth Circuit Court has a history of leaning far left.   CA is going to have to back up and punt several times to get in line with the rest of the country.

This case had already been to the 9th Circuit (and was sent back to the lower District Court, with no injunction during appeal), and if it is appealed back to the 9th Circuit and is overturned, it will certainly be appealed to SCOTUS.

In Mar 2014, SCOTUS Justice Kennedy (now retired) refused to accept an identical appeal on magazine limits from a voter approved measure in Sunnyvale CA, on an emergency basis, without comment.  That was not a ruling on the merits of the appeal, but only a decision to allow the ordinary appeal process continue without SCOTUS intervention as an emergency.

A NJ Fed Dist Ct has upheld a magazine limit of 10 rounds.

Ten states and the District of Columbia have enacted laws banning large (normal) capacity ammunition magazines: California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, and Vermont. All of these jurisdictions except Colorado and Vermont also ban assault weapons. And these bans vary between all guns, and handguns only.

There are also mag bans in a number of big cities in some other states.

The mag ban in Colorado is often ignored.  I saw a store selling 30 round mags with a rivet that stopped the follower half way through it's travel.

The state AG at the time and most county sheriffs said the law was poorly written and unenforceable.  One issue is that it bans any magazine capable of holding, or being modified to hold, more than 15 rounds.  That essentially bans anything with a removable baseplate.  It also grandfathers existing mags as long as they are in 'continuous possession' of the owner.  That would technically prevent someone from letting a friend fire his gun at a range.
