We now have a carbon tax on our fuel. That just drives up the price of ...food, clothes...ETC.

Thought I was share a glimpse of your future if Trump is defeated in 2020. laugh

gas will continue to climb as the winter blend is now gone more than likely and people are driving out and about more now that the cold winter is almost gone.

What ticks me off is my local kwik trip USED to be the cheapest around getting gas there all the time, and for some odd reason they are lately been 5 cents per gallon higher than all other gas stations around so do not buy gas there anymore.   Once Kwik Trip bought out PDQ,  they seem to be NOT the lowest anymore either the same price or higher than the rest.  They can keep it,  too many gas stations to waste 5 cents more per gallon of gas as much as we drive weekly.

I hope gas goes to $20/L in Vancouver to serve as a warning to the rest of the country what happens when you elect governments like they did.

Here in NE Ohio a couple weeks ago, gas jumped up over $2.00/gallon. From there it went to $2.39/gal as of Thurs. 4/4. Friday 4/5 $2.69/gal. First thing our new Gov did was get the ball rolling for an increase in the state gas tax. It was approved this week also, 10.5 cents per/gal, 19 cents/gal for diesel, effective July 2019. Increases in registration fees for electric cars to $200 and $100 for hybrids.

2funny actually it was when "W" was still president. For some reason my eyesight has always been pretty exceptional. The doctor was amazed that I still had 20/10 vision at 50 plus years. Now, I need reading glasses for up close stuff nowadays, but anything past 3 feet I'm like an eagle  Wink (don't you like rainbows and unicorns ?)

This is the end of the season where many refineries have their maintenance shutdowns. These are scheduled way in advance and the commodities traders know to up prices due to scheduled supply shortfalls. Some are a few weeks and others a couple months. Most are over at this point.
Then you have unscheduled equipment failures and worse, fires. There have been some nasty chemical plant fires and some fairly significant unit failures in the last few months. All of this adds up to create more speculative activity with the traders and the higher prices reflect that.
Traders buy contracts months in advance but spot prices can change in a heartbeat. Refineries love to have a good price spread between incoming raw crude and the total of its sales products. Right now the spread is pretty good with fracked American crude in great supply and the ever increasing demands for products in a slightly embarrassed supply frame.

Yet for some reason, it was only $2.65 (87 octane regular w/up to 10% alcohol) 100 miles north of my house when I filled up in Fond du Lac, WI this morning, and I also passed one at $2.61 later.

that is cheap for sure in WI.  Most places in more southern WI jacked up from 2.69 to 2.79 now most places last few days.  Is it still under 2.69 up there today?

Sure beats though when gas was pushing 4 bucks per gallon years back, man that sucked filling up the truck well over 100 bucks every week.

No idea, it's $2.89 by me in Kenosha, but I filled up in the FDL area Monday.

In far western Colorado it rose from $2.07 to the current $2.69 per gallon over the course of five weeks.
85 octane.
It is due (so said on the news) to the shutdown of some southern refineries for maintenance. Evil
