yesterday on the plane back to NY I settled on watching the movie about Ruth Bader Ginsberg

Surprised to say I not only enjoyed it, but also found it useful

The main premises is that attacking laws on equal protection grounds can be used to strike down laws that arbitrarily discriminate
She attacked a law (IRS) that discriminated against an unmarried man who was caregiver for his elderly sick mom in the 10th circuit later going on to argue many times before SCOTUS

As times change this may be able to be used to strike down affirmative action, to attack late term abortion, to do all kinds of things that the present ACLU did not dream about when they first
started to work for civil rights.   As the country changes, precedents may also change for one side or the other.

I am still not a fan of her later views but did appreciate the gauntlet she had to run to get to where she is now.

Love my Jetblue, convenient from airport 20 minutes away, comfortable seats and good times for flight. Plus no charge for the luggage
