But, I know I’m proud of the girl for standing her ground.
Me too I guess... what about the girl that was in the boys bathroom? I don't think any of the boys should hit her, but...

I'm going to strongly side with the girl. Her right to privacy was violated. I consider that no less a violation than a physical attack of a male ripping the clothes off a female. From the article: "We do not advocate physical or psychological violence as a means to attain safety," she said. "The entire school community needs to work together to ensure that all students feel welcomed, safe and are able to learn and thrive. We recognize that parents, students and members of our community feel strongly about these issues, but advocating for the use of violence does not contribute to a safe learning environment." A problem that is ongoing in our culture is the increasing intensity of the acceptance of so much bullshit as fact. Stupidity is rampant.

Standing your ground is really inapplicable in a bathroom.
Someone charges in from the door, there's really no good retreat available.
But I know what you mean. If I had a daughter, there would have been a lot of instruction on eyes, nuts and throat (and no mercy), if it's self defense or preservation.
We do not advocate physical or psychological violence as a means to attain safety
Schools are so full of sh!t, their eyes are brown.
The better rule is let the level of defense (including force), meet the crime (or violation).
You invade the girls room, you get kicked in the nuts. That's exactly right!!
It's painful, but it's almost never lethal. A lesson is learned.

I don't know the specifics of what happened. I just assumed from the article that the girl was in there by herself taking a "selfie" . But, I will admit to having a double standard when it comes to the physicality . I'm not usually in favor of males hitting females. (I'm ok with that)

If the sign in the article was on the batroom the boy had as much right as the girl to be in there. I dont think a boy should be in the girls room or vice versa but the double standards are getting old and who started all of this? LGBT. All the boy had to say was he felt like a girl that day according to them

All the boy had to say was he felt like a girl that day according to them I think the pic you are referring to is just a generic placard sign. The way I understand the rules in Fairbanks schools are that transgender students can use a single stall, gender neutral bathroom if they want or the bathroom of their birth gender. "Gaborik said that in her Fairbanks-area school district, which is geographically “larger than the state of Connecticut,” transgender students can choose to use a gender-neutral, single-stall bathroom that corresponds with the student’s gender identity, or the one that corresponds with the student’s gender at birth." So if this correct, the transgender taking the selfie in the boy's bathroom was breaking the rules, as were the boys making their "protest" in the girls bathroom. What I found humorous was that the girl ended this "protest" with one good knee. The rest of the boys backed out wanting no part of her knee.

There is so much wrong here it is incredible.
For starters, the school, and we as a society, have not only blurred the social lines of behavior but obliterated them from the teen perspective.
I happen to support the expulsion of the girl. There was no threat of harm. The boys were not out to get her. (I would assume that if there were such a threat, it would have been included in the story)
The boys wanted to take a "selfie" to show the absurdity of present day social lines of behavior.
Sue the girl for assault. Sue the school for anything that puts the absurdity of this on a pedestal.
We are seeing our young men and women questioning if they are a man or woman because society has warped the social lines of behavior.
Sure, there are folks with legit gender issues. But there are far, far more folks that don't and it is tiresome to watch them get bulldozed for political correctness.

It said they blocked her exit from the bathroom. I would take that as possible threat of harm. If the boy's family decides to sue the girl (which I doubt, he has had enough shame already) I will kick in some money for her defense. I suspect this girl will be getting high fives from ALL students when she is allowed to come back to school. Hopefully the school district will pull their head out of their ass, and it will be tomorrow.

The girl did not know the boys' intent. If they blocked the exit and did not allow her to leave, I believe that can be classified as kidnapping. I think her actions were justified.

One of my daughters was forced into something similar in the girls dressing room by the gym. There was only one guy involved but he spent the next couple hours in a fetal position, gaining much razzing from the general male population. The school nurse did nothing more than give him something for pain....and a lecture. I had to chuckle a bit when I later found out he commented the lecture was the more painful of the two incidents, mainly because he was a captive audience.

With no carrying away it's not usually kidnapping, but it is false imprisonment.
When there are a bunch of them (boys), and one of you (girl), this makes (nonlethal) defensive action reasonable to any fact finder. (except PC zero tolerance schools)
No decent lawyer would take an assault civil suit for the boy against the girl. And I wouldn't prosecute the girl for assault (that's a loser to a jury). Assuming she is willing to testify that she felt threatened by them (which is what she would say if I was representing her). As opposed to just being pissed off at them.
I agree with Moonshot about the rules being so bent and broken that kids are left with no clear guidance. But not about kicking her out. Just what happened is as good an example as any of the ridiculousness.

”Wilson said Friday that she learned about the incident from a constituent and had been in touch with the girl’s family. The Republican lawmaker said the boys were “blocking” the girl from leaving the bathroom. “Was she not supposed to protect herself?” she said in a follow-up interview with the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner. She added, “I said, ‘Good for her.’ I would have taught my daughter to do the same.” The extent of the boy’s injuries are unclear. The Daily News-Miner reported that the boy was referred for medical treatment, although Gaborik could not confirm whether he sought it.”

A group of us took off with a local. I think he went by Gare Bear. We were scooting along pretty good. Probably faster than a group of 12 non locals should be going. I went wide around one corner and made myself back off a little. Come to find out at the next stop, Craig followed me wide around that corner. There were corners with sand and gravel. One guy actually fell over on top of the mountain turning around. Many people would say we aren’t normal.
