My brother and I are planning our annual summer riding trip in the mountains. We are going to take a week and go riding up to the Marion VA area (I'm in GA) and ride the usual routes in and around the Back of Dragon.

I'm hoping there some other amazing roads/routes in the general area of Marion that are perhaps less know, but well worth the ride.

Is there anyone out there that has some experience/suggestions for good roads/routes in that area other than the ones listed on the Marion websites ?

I'd appreciate any information.

Thanks,
Mark

All I can suggest is getting on the BRP at Asheville and heading north to Galax VA and then onwards to your final destination

This link is to the rides that I made up for last years Inzane in Roanoke.

You'll have to sort through them because they are based out of Roanoke.

But there are some good ones in the Marion Tazewell area.

Shoot me a PM and I'll give you my Cell#, If I'm off any while you're here, I'll be glad to play tourguide for a day.

Take Hwy 16 north from the BRP to the Ohio River.

Rode SR 16 from St. Albans, WV to Marion, VA a couple of years ago.

It was a great ride and a good day, but it was a full day.

When we left Morgantown me and Stanley Steamer rode all day and were still
in West Virginia at the end of the day...

You know the expression...too many twisty roads and not enough time....well I think whoever said it was talking about where you are heading...

Did that area a couple of years ago and it was one of our favorite places to ride.

Check out the rocket boys Route 16 into West Virginia...
