Well, I must be getting old or I have turned into a real amateur preparing for a ride. (I haven't been out since my eye surgery) I met up with Glenn and gassed up. As we were leaving, I saw another couple drinking water and I realized that I left my Camelback in the refrigerator. I was upset with myself but said "screw it" I would just buy a couple of bottles of water at the 1st stop. As we got on the freeway thinking about my Camelback and thought if I pass out from dehydration my wife would know exactly where I was at because I had my Spot with me. I then realized I didn't turn it on before I left home. So I would just turn it on at the 1st stop and call my wife to let her know that I didn't turn it on when I left. You guessed it, my phone was still at home hooked to the charger. So I was starting to get a headache so I thought I would just take a couple of Tylenol, but I forgot those too. I swear I'm surprised that I remember to bring my motorcycle today. The rest of the ride was great until lunch. Glenn asked me to take a picture of his food. I forgot the camera what can I say it is one of those days. Glenn said look at it this way "without pictures it never happened".  So he said we never went on a ride today and I didn't forget anything. In some weird way, I do find comfort in that thought.  Despite everything, even a disorganized ride is better than no ride at all.

Sometimes a ride is better without all the stuff we carry with us. This ride was the proof that it is possible.  The downside is there was nothing to share from the ride. Great ride Ron !!!

Hard to have a peaceful ride when you are thinking about the stuff you should have brought.

Once I hit the twisty my mind was at the task at hand. Don't get me wrong I still had a great ride. It sure felt good to get out.  :cooldude:

Sounds like a good outing just the same. Sorry to hear about the general forgetfulness, for some of us it only gets worse from here. That mental checklist I once consulted became best served in written form.  :-[

I recall the earlier years making my trek out to Vegas and So Cal to meet with family & friends, sporting a short sleeved t-shirt, maybe sunscreen, maybe not, water in saddle bag or at the next gas stop under the mid day sun. As I aged that game plan no longer worked following an episode of dehydration or two. Thankfully never any urgent care issues or hospital stays but definitely debilitating. Ah, the memories.

Glad you two got to get out and enjoy the ride without incident Ron, thanks for sharing.

No kidding Gary ! It's amazing we didn't die a thousand deaths. I can't imagine riding like that now. Even if I could, I wouldn't make it 50 miles. Brenda would be bitching in my headset  ;D
A few years ago we were coming across from Bakersfield in July. By the time we got 20 miles from home it was brutal. Made the turn at the 40 and some poor dude on a Harley was pulled to the side just puking his guts out.

Ron, you made me feel more comfortable with the fact that it always seems that I forgot something.  I've left the phone on the charger and the water bottles in the fridge.  I think we will get along fine headed to Taos.  Glad you enjoyed the day.

Left the phone at home! Oh the horror! I would have gone back to get it. LOL

The phone was the least of my worries. I hate my phone!  :)
