I'm gathering parts and material to build a one-wheel trailer for the Valk to tow. I've been doing some research on the tongue subject but thought I'd pose the question here as well. A lot of what I found only tells me how to determine tongue weight....don't need that. I'm probably going to use a ready made underbody tool box rather than fabricate one myself. I found some on Ebay 30"L x 10"H x 13"W  which should be more than adequate for my needs and keeps the length of the overall unit shorter as well. So, has anyone ever run across a guideline for tongue length, if so....care to share?

I did read one place the tongue should be as long as 1/2 the width of the tow vehicle plus 8-12" extra.  Seems like that would make for a rather short tongue if you consider 1/2 the width of a Tourer plus maybe 12".

My UniGo is 48" from axle center to the hitch pivot. If I had a choice, I would have it a little longer. Maybe 4"-6".  I have never tried backing it up. I have towed other trailers with my truck and cars.

Ron, I would have preferred to find a used Uni-go, much too expensive new. Found one in Wisconsin for $1k but bad timing on the money tree at the time. I'd like to get one of their hitches however.

I didn't know if you had ever seen one. They are rather short, hence the 48" dimension. The link was to visualize  the size.

I can't help with the hitch.

Yes, seen them in person, neat little things but the price is a bit above their worth.

Hey John   Let me check tomorrow . There was one locally, way cheaper than $1000. I'll see if its still available. Terry

My daughter lives in DePere, husband has his own business but they have a 40' camper parked on the water north of you I believe. Don't know how I'd get it here but might be worth it, they might be able to help me out. Send me an email on the trailer at:  stuffy402@gmail.com
