I had read this disturbing report last week. It appears to be the reason Oli North (and others) were questioning LaPierre's leadership (spending habits and business practices) and personal salary. It's hard to know (given today's journalism practices, and culture wars), and Neal Knox's (former NRA 1st VP) son's loyalty to his father, how much of this may be an unfair or a fair attack (or strong criticism). It certainly seems to raise some valid concerns for NRA's continued existence on behalf of all NRA rank and file.
Also, it has always seemed to me that the (very long list of) NRA directors largely serve in more honorary positions than positions of power over any company (non profit or otherwise).
It also made me wonder why in the hell NRA is (and has long continued) incorporated under NY state laws? This was a complete surprise to me, and seems like a big mistake (given the number of committed NRA foes in Govt there).
It appears LaPierre continues in charge, and his detractors have been kept at bay (for now).
Clearly, airing dirty laundry and a big internal dispute should not to be fought out and publicized at the big annual meeting in front of God and everybody. I await to hear more on this in the future
