Now that I have some info on a fuel gauge, I need some additional info on where I can get my bike, '98 Standard, worked on. I had my carbs done in TX last year and I get about 80 miles to a tank of gas before I have to go to my reserve. I should be doing better than that. Any info on a good service location (or individual) would be greatly appreciated.

What exactly did the carb work entail?  We're any parts replaced or just cleaned?

Do you know what jets you have installed and which pipes are you running?

Other than poor mileage, what other symptoms are you having?  You should be getting low to mid 30s for mileage.  The only time I had 80 miles before reserve was running at 90+ mph on Rt 70 in Kansas with a stiff headwind and 100+ degrees in the heat of the day.

I rebuilt my carbs and get 150+ before reserve. Too bad I live in AZ.

IS tank or IS? Reason I ask is I bought my bike new in '97 and dont think it has ever seen 140 without hitting reserve. But hey I didn't buy it for MPG

If you are going to state miles per tank instead of miles per gallon, keep in mind there is quite a difference between click off and topping off at the pump. The extra fuel you can squeeze in could gain you as much as 25 to 30 miles more. My Std. consistently runs 34 to 36 mpg.  Usually never go to reserve before 140 miles.
