Db501 vs db522

I was all set to purchase a set of db 501s as a direct swap out for my front speakers on my IS.
Then I heard the 522s are the replacement for the 501s.
I noted that the 522s are 5 1/2" speakers vs the 501 being a 5" speaker. Has any one put the 522s in the front of an IS? If so, how much " modifying" did it take?

I just purchased two sets of the db501's off of Amazon, thay are available, $60 a set.
And to answer your question, the 522's are too big, others will chime in.

I put the bigger ones in my wing.  Took some carefull fitting and cutting but I got them in there.  BIG improvement in sound.

Haven't installed them, so I don't know how they sound, should be an improvement over stock.

I have the 501s as well.  Not sure on the fitment of the 522

The DB522 is a 5.25 inch speaker so only 1/4 inch difference.  My bet would be on minimal modification since the holes needed to be elongated on the 501 to make them fit.
