Not lookin' the best weather wise this weekend but I've been planning on doing this ride and told work I've had enough of the 7 days a week I need some " Me " time. I've heard from a few I'm riding up with out of The Great State Of Tennessee and they claim they are still going. We made a stop here last year on our way home from InZane very nice area for motorcycling and one of the top in the nation for rock climbers that call the area " The Red " . Slade , Kentucky was a DRY county back in June 2018 when we stayed there the lady at the motel told us a new law in Sept 2018 would pass making it legal to sell alcoholic beverages . Anyone know ?  I googled and found one said " Yes " and one said "No " .

Joe,

I'm one of the ones who've exposed their weather-wussy-ness and backed out! I'm in South Carolina and headed southeast trying to 'ride around' the weather headed your way... I wish you well, but I've got all the wetness in my drawers I care to deal with! Really enjoyed the other night, my friend... let's do 'er again sometime...

With 630,000 miles on one bike I can only imagine how many times you have experienced the wetness in the drawers I've had my share and have nowhere near the saddle time you have. Stay safe Bruce I owe you on that bill at Applebees .

Is there any kind of schedule or agenda posted for this?   I am not cleared to ride (yet) but, might take a trip there just to visit with some of my friends.

This is a copy / paste from a post on Facebook.

For anyone interested we are going to be having the First Annual Dragon Weyr in Slade KY (Red River Gorge). The dates will be May 3 - 5 and the home base is the Lil Abner Motel (606-663-5384). The motel has 38 rooms, 10 suites (2 connected bedrooms, 1 bath) and a few cabins. We have a ride planned that is tentatively 125 miles & 3 1/2 hr riding time (planning 6 hrs with stops) ending at the Sandstone Restaurant in the Nature Bridge State Park at 4pm for their dinner buffet.  The planned route is basically KSU 10am at the motel following hwys 15, 77, 715, 15, 191, 746, 460, 1010, 1812, 52, 2016, 716 & 11 to the restaurant. We have planned stops at NADA Tunnel, Skybridge, Broken Leg Falls, fuel/rest stop in Jackson (80 mile point) and end at the restaurant. There is plenty of great riding in the area so feel free to plan your own excursion & join us for dinner. There is a pavilion & fire-pit at the motel. If you come & are going to be joining us for the buffet PLEASE message me so I can coordinate with them to insure they have sufficient food & staff available, NO ONE likes a buffet that runs out of food! Also please inform me if you need to cancel for whatever reason so I can adjust our numbers for the restaurant. If weather turn inclement we can do a short ride around the Gorge which would only be about 25 miles but VERY scenic! Feel free to contact me (219-928-6850) with any questions & to RSVP for the buffet. Cost of the buffet is $17 per person with your beverage.

I’d try to join you if not for having to travel to Hopkinsville to tie up loose ends before my house closing on May the 17th.

Joe, when I called to book my room, I asked about wet/dry county, the desk guy said it is a wet county now, multiple places to buy beverages .
Sadly, I had to cancel my trip....I am to much of a fair weather rider Embarrassed . I hope to catch everyone on another ride.

Well, as much as I would like to drive down and visit with a few friends, have something else that needs to be done and Saturday (all day) is the best time to get it done.   Has nothing to do with the weather, I am not cleared to ride yet anyway.  Maybe next time.  Sad

Curious about this event and how it all worked out.
I had to travel to middle TN and back to Frankfort yesterday through a consistent rain.  Thought about the event several times and hoped their weather was more conducive to riding fat ladies than what I was experiencing.

Sorry, I just saw this post.  The ride was great.  Terry did a great job setting it up.  The weather cooperated on ride day until the very end, then it rained like hell.  It was all Reb's fault for constantly wiping his bike down.  430 miles each way fro me down and back.  It was raining when I left the house in MI, off and on on the way down, rained from the motel to north of Lexington on the way home.  Sunny skys from Ohio to MI on Sunday.  I may have drank too much, and we did do a toast to jig's Pop, may he RIP.

Had I known, would have offered you a place to overnight.  I'm only about 25 miles from Lexington currently.

Thanks for the offer, but had to get home and be at work on Monday anyway.  I doesn't bother me to ride in the rain, I just hate to clean the bike when I get home.  Bike is still dirty and it is raining again in MI, so it won't get washed any time soon.
