Meathead, I clicked on the Tucker song and was transported back to 1977 and a concert event in Englishtown NJ It was to be the biggest crowd event since Watkins Glen and Woodstock,
Here is a report that was close to my experience as a 21yr old.
http://www.harrisonline.com/my-grateful-dead-experience/In my case my cousin Andy and I loaded a watermelon filled with a quart of vodka and a copious amount of bodacious herb into my 57 olds and headed to the event. Miles before the venue we were stopped in a sea of cars and parked on a side road and walked with the crowds to the entrance carrying the aforesaid melon and a 6 pack. (who had bottled water back then?)
Around 2am or so we made it out of there, the watermelon and herb consumed however accidentally we took another exit and got hopelessly lost in Jersey (a line from a springsteen song maybe it came from there also) Anyway we were picked up by kids in a pick up and rode for hours around the area till around 5am we found the car Maybe that was where the herb remnants dissapeared it is kinda foggy . You would think a 57 would be easier to find lol
New Riders, Tucker and the Dead amazing day Would never do that again. My cousin has few memories of the day as he kept passing out. I had a blast. In fact he thinks he saw Tull's band as New Riders had a flute player like Anderson Great times we survived
Did anyone else go to that Labor day crazyness??
