Central Florida - Eustis

« on: May 28, 2019, 06:44:27 PM »

A funny thing happened on the way back to the house from Boondocks on Saturday.
Lesa and I walked into Seminole Powersports in Eustis for the sole purpose of me picking up some carb kits for a project in progress.
I got the kits that had been ordered and when I turned around Lesa was nowhere to be found. We had spotted something really cool on the way in and the rest can be seen below.

We have been having a BLAST on these! Don't have to horse the Valkyries in and out of the garage to run down and grab a bite or an ice cream or whatever we want to do on them.

cooldude  Looks like lotsa fun!  Honda recently started remanufacturing these.  Those seats actually look quite reasonable for the average adult  tuckus.  Bring along a day pack and you're fully equipped for the urban jungle!

One of these stickers could be appropriate.

nice seat on them but still only 125cc or so barely able to go 50 mph plus is insanely high priced for what you get.  There are 100's of used 250cc scooters out there 1/2 the price of the new Monkey and just as comfy and able to go over 65 mph top speed being safer and still flickable/easy to drive anywhere

I refuse to buy (maybe test ride is fine though) any engine that is not hwy. capable since that is 90% of my riding, which means 150cc is barely adequate more like 250cc engine.

That's not what we bought them for.
Not every bike has to be a highway capable bike and for your information these will run 60-62mph depending on the weight and size of the rider. 55 all day long. Good thing that was only opinion and not fact!

Saw one in person at the Honda dealer in West Plains Mo. today on way home from my ride. ALMOST looks like I could put it in the trunk of my I/S fer a spare!  Roll Eyes Like the old logo on the tank. The one I saw was yellow and cream. The gold tone forks look a bit like after market. IF I were to downsize I'd be thinkin silver wing or bergman. RIDE SAFE.

Too hot to ride down here right now so we wait until after the sun goes down, climb on these and head someplace. This evening we rode to "BTW" in downtown Tavares, Fla. for a burger and tacos. Wonderful warm dry breeze, little traffic, great company and a pair of bikes that are a blast to ride. That's Lesa in the pic.

For me they would have to be hwy. capable able to do 65 mph all day long since all depends on where  you live I guess.  I live in small town 1 mile wide all around and basically to get anything or do anything have to drive all country roads 55 mph speed limit at least 13 miles to nearest bigger town of 10K people.

I also think, my opinion based on scooter ownership, that the speedo on most scooters are off 3 mph give or take 1 or 2 say 65 mph on speedo is really 61 mph so if readout states 62 mph is really probably 59 tops.  I have driven as well 150cc scoots on hwy and floored was 62 mph but felt like 55 mph in real life numbers.  Going uphill me being 280lbs. is more like 50 mph is all not safe to drive on hwys. will get run over from behind for sure.

Now if I lived in a bigger town where you can go 10+ miles all under 50 mph then fine for a 125 or 150cc but unfortunately is not for me.  Plus, most 150cc on down scooters are air cooled and run much hotter than 250cc on up scooters with most being liquid cooled then as well engine should last longer not as hot if running hwy. speeds flooring the smaller scoot all the time.
