Drooping kickstand

I can lift it using a bungee cord but in the up position it touches my truck stack.

I have the spare parts with me but can't get anyone to help me until tomorrow in Taos.

Suggestions on another way of holding it up so I can go ride.

If the bungee holds it too high, stick something in there to hold it off the pipes.

You may have to lean the bike on something to the right, to work on the left.

A zip tie might hold it just where you want it, but will be problem when you want to get off again. 

The fact it is now going up higher than normal may be a problem with the cross member (not just the bolt and the spring).  Hope not.

Maybe wrapping some aluminum foil around the bungee ?

Gas up, zip tie it up (underneath) (or wire), and make a single run?

Not that it's any fun to dead lift, but the bike can be laid on the guards (for work).  It can also probably be leaned on a curb.

I never get off my bike to gas up (or use the kickstand).  You just need to ride in close enough to use the pump and your card (but don't let a hose grab the bars).

Use a coat hanger to attach to kickstand. Let it run up over the pipe, it shouldn't melt. Hook the bungee in a loop bent in the end of the coat hanger. Attach bungee where ever works.

I carry a short piece of coat hanger with me just for that reason.

That's a good tip. I will scrounge one up and put it in the trunk.  (I might have to go steal one, ours are all plastic)


I sure was hoping to get over for a day or two and hang with you guys. But, we've got some funky crap going down at work right now.  Keep that DDT fella in check and don't let him have too much fun.

I modified this brake spring plier specifically to install sidestand springs.  I'll be there with this and a lot more tools tomorrow evening.

Had to ride to Walgreens for stronger different anti congestion meds. Kickstand went into full droop mode.  Rode in 3rd holding it up with left heel. Pulled back into Super 8 parking lot and there's the spring on the ground in my parking space!

It's  a strong bugger ain't it.
