Just got out of the hospital. Diagnosed as terminal pancreatic cancer.  Please I don't need stories, questions, solutions, none of that.

I just wanted to inform my friends here on the VRCC.

Sorry to hear this.

You are someone that I have looked up to for quite a while.

I know that you are secure in where your eternal home is.

My prayer is that you get all of the life out of the days that you have left.

Well, words always seem to fail me in bad situations. Hold your head high. You're a hell of a great guy, by anyone's standards (except maybe the anti 2nd amendment folks; you may have put a burr in their bonnet a time or two).

See if you can swing a leg over the Scrambler and take it for a quick one. If that's not feasible, take the Miata for a nice ride and feel the wind. Peace to you, sir. As we all should, enjoy what time you have here in this phase of existence.

Wayne, so sorry to hear this but hear this; I'm planning a trip to my daughter's place in the Green Bay area. Hoping to leave here about the first weekend of next month and going up through the eastern end of N. Carolina to stop and see Pluggy(Stu Saunders, used to live here). Then on to my 96 yr. old sis-in-law in Roanoke, then east side of Columbus, OH to another sis-in-law. Next, I'm headed west toward Chicago's suburb of Oak Brook and Ft. Wayne in on the way. I plan to stop and pass a little time with you if you're up to it before heading on to Oak Brook, even if you're not up to sittin 'n sippin. I'll get in contact as time gets closer so hang in there my friend.  cooldude

No advice, only prayers and well wishes. I have always enjoyed spending time with you and your sons.
A good friend of Andrea's is going thru this very struggle at age 46 and the outlook is hopeful but grim.
I hope you get to take out that Miata some if the weather ever clears up and try and straighten some curves with the top down and the sun on your face.

I can only echo the sentiments of others in this lineup of comments. I've been without a Valkyrie for seven years. You are one of the reasons I stick around, always looking forward to reading your stories reminiscing of yesteryear. As others have stated; drop the top on the Miata and chase the sun. Don't stop till you see it drop into the ocean on the left coast. Thoughts with you and yours.

Wayne, I have learned a lot from your writings. You lead a life most of us strive to and you seem to do it easily. You are truly a man that a lot of us look up to and we look forward to reading what you write for us.
Like others have said, drive that Miata and enjoy the wind as long as you can before you yourself ride the wind.
There are so many of us here that are proud to know you both personally or through your writings. Darn gnats in my eyes....

I hope to comply with many of your wishes, that I drive the Miata as much as possible, For now, unfortunately this has completely robbed me of an appetite, and with slight nausau, and as a result, ,although the sun is shining, some of life has disappeared and I haven't driven the Miata for two weeks.

I never thought that because of the missing food pleasure that this would affect me n other ways.

The good news is that my kids, my friends, my medical staff, and the church has helped me in these days.

Thanks to all.

Wayne, so very sorry to hear this. We met 12 years ago this coming September. After that, spoke to you on the phone several times, posted on this site a few more times. Bought a sidecar from you to put on my Valkyrie that I still have. Enjoy the $hit out of that bike. Thanks to you. Have had some great adventures on it and hope to have many more. Every time I look at that yellow dragon with that red tongue I think of you. Told many people the story of the dragon and your lost cigarette lighter. I have always thought of you as a man of compassion, guidance, honor and a man of your word. I think you have raised your sons that way too.

Lost my best friend last October. I hope for you that you have comfort, love and peace. That's all we can ask for. I will talk to you very soon.

  Safe winds my brother.
