That bike is really for sale, down here in Palm Bay Florida for $5999.  Here is the link to the real ad.
I looked at it the other day.

I saw this local listing too, Jack.  I don't know what the person expected to get out of this.  Why waste our time and theirs?  Unless they want you to send them the money and they will hold it for you, since it's such a good deal.  Really?  But then, I guess some people would fall for it, and that's what they are hoping for.

Maybe CL needs a "I call Scam" button.

And for the record, put this in your pipe and smoke it —- here in Norway Per-Arne took us to a dealer who only sells imported Valkyries and Goldwings - the dealer takes care of all import tax, shipping and your price is a ready to go price!  Are you ready? There is a clean 2003 std with 16,000 miles we looked at  —- Yep over 100,000 Norwegian crowns and that is about $11,400 in USD.  We have it quite good. Then we see a new Corvette here and realize this owner has some serious money!

Jerry,
There is a scam button on CraigsList. When you are looking at an ad, look for the word "PROHIBITED" along the top. Click that when you see an obvious scam. One click from one person will not get the post taken down, but several clicks from different computers will get it looked at, and most times taken down.
Another good thing is that once you click on that, it is removed so you do not have to look at it anymore.

Not sure why but i decided to push this scammer further, it's a shame they use our military as a way to trick folks. Here are some emails I got from them [him, her, whoever]  the gig was up days ago when they sent both my wife and me the same text at the same time.  ???

"Hi there, my name is Laura. Let me tell you few words about my bike, it's a 1998 Honda Valkyrie F6 Tourer, with only 9692 miles, 1500cc engine priced at $1,200. Driver and passenger back rests, two tone paint really makes this bike stand out, cobra light bar... Bike has only seen nice days for riding and has not be ridden hard at all (never any wheelies). This bike runs awesome! I have a clear title, without liens or loans on it, under my name. The only reason for selling is that I really don't use it anymore and it deserve a better home, bike has been sitting in the garage for past year due to my job, I'm a Sergeant in Air Force and I was promoted and transferred and I'm very busy with my deployment and I want someone to buy and ride it to its potential which I was not able to do.

If you need further information please get back to me as soon as possible and I will send you more pics with it.  Thank you !   "

then i had congratulated on the promotion..

"Thanks, I appreciate it! I just attached more pics and I will explain you more details. Now I'm here in Minot, North Dakota, at the Air Force Base. The bike is already at the eBay warehouse here in Minot along with all the paperwork and the transaction will be done through them. eBay will handle the shipping, the payment, and the paper exchange. The bike is ready to be delivered to your place. I think I can have it there at your home address within 2-3 working days. You will have free shipping and 5 days to test and inspect it before I receive any money. If you are really interested in buying my bike, please reply with your full name, a full delivery address and a phone #. I will forward this info to eBay and they will contact you with all the info on how to buy it.
Thanks,  hope to do business with you soon!  "

I responded to this with the "not interested" generic reply and got one more.

"   But why not? As I've said I'm serving the USAF here in Minot and unfortunately I have very restrictive work condition here at the base, we are not allowed to go out of the unit, besides we're allowed only emails or text due to security reasons so I can not call you or close this deal in person. Hopefully you can understand me. Besides shipping is already paid by me so you don't need to worry about this. I'll explain you how it works:

1. I will open the transaction with eBay and they will send the invoice to you.
2. You have to make the payment to eBay and they will deposit the money into their trusted account.
3. eBay confirms to me that the amount has been received and then start the shipping.
4. You accept delivery and inform eBay if you're satisfied or not with the vehicle received.
5. Then eBay Financial Department will release the money to me and the deal is closed.

As you can see, you will receive the bike BEFORE any money is released to me. From the moment you receive it you have 5 days to inspect it. If is not like I said or something is not OK with it you can reject it (I assure you that is NOT going to happen since my bike is in IMMACULATE condition) and eBay will fully refund you and the bike will be shipped back to me, on my expense. eBay will transfer the money to me ONLY after you will confirm them that the bike is OK. Until then, the money will be safe kept by eBay and not released to me. If you are serious and have sufficient money to buy it then I will need your full name, full shipping address and phone number and we can take it from there. Looking forward to hearing from you  "

Next time let the Scammer know your brother lives in Minot, S. Dakota.  You want to arrange for him to come down and look at it, so as not to waist your time or hers. He can be there any time you have free and he will pay for it and take possession there.
You will never hear from her again !!!
I replied in that manner and I'm still waiting to hear back over a year now. Mine was a Valkyrie trike.
