Sometimes it really worries me. Like the other day, for instance... There we were, the three of us gliding along back roads through western Tennessee and Kentucky, then up on the big road for the remainder of the jaunt to Mount Vernon, IL, our target destination for the evening. I was wondering what it was that persuaded those other two members of our party to ride long distances with this... mercurial 'person'.

Have I somehow changed into... a wife?!!! I grumble a bit more than I used to, I need to stop more often to pee, I have to have a nap or two during the day... I worry if a particular outfit makes my butt look big... (OK, not really on that last one...) I did a quick physical inventory, and at least no appreciably significant anatomical changes have occurred, thank goodness.

Yes, there was that modest 'abbreviation' coincident with my prostate surgery a few months ago, but... Surely that hasn't caused any of this. Heck, I'm not even sure any of this is hormonal or gender-specific, but something is surely going on.  Some have tried to convince me this is simply my passage into the 'golden years'. Shoot, the only thing 'golden' I've experienced lately is the occasional involuntary urination, resulting in my still having to wear 'a pad'. Oh well, I ponder on...

I was able to focus upon a few other topics as we cruised from one state to another. For example... Before joining up with anybody for this multi-partnered, clearly segmented ride, I spent a minute or two (all I could tolerate) watching the latest political auction... The one where twenty 'bidders' or so lined up on a stage and tried to out-bid each other for votes...

"Elect me, because I'll give you more free stuff than these other Bozos, and especially more than the current Bozo-In-Chief!" " I really care, and I'll fight for you!" Why I watched even a minute or two of that crapola is beyond figuring, but... Could this be another manifestation of major change occurring in me...?

Probably not... I've been turned off by politics since the late 60s, and few glimmers of hope have been detected that might persuade this cynical member of the electorate that our government can be made into something productive and successful... for the nation at large, I mean.

Certainly the politicos have been hugely successful in producing long careers and benefits for themselves... their parties, and their contributors... not so much for their constituents, regrettably. It's not their fault, of course, it's those meanies in the 'other party' who have prevented America from moving forward... Gawd, I'd rather watch professional wrestling than so-called political 'dialog'!

I thought some more pleasant thoughts, too. Yep, Troutdude and I are on our way to Calgary, AB, where we'll be seeing our old friends T-man403, Johnny Canook, and Reg... plus their spouses. Guys we have some history with, thanks to what at the time appeared to be the end of ALI and yours truly as an item. Not to be, as Terry Nickel resurrected 'our girl' from the scrap-heap she was headed for, resuscitated her and restored her to good health, then returned her to me at the Asheville IZ...

In the meantime, Dennis and I will continue on from Mount Vernon, while Mitch will head for his home up the road a piece... pulling Dennis' boat trailer to keep until we return from the north land... Amazing, how a boo-boo in Alabama brought guys from Illinois and Louisiana to the aid of two broke-down riders, one from Tennessee, the other from Florida. As Mitch told me about five years ago, "Valks are great machines, but it's all that goes with them that really blows your mind!"

Well that title got my attention!  I wasn't too sure that I should open this.......but it is, after all, authored by the Bug Killer, DDT, a person that I have gotten to know fairly well and I thought was quite content with his position in the modern day rapidly expanding list of possible genders and non genders.  Could it be?........

Politics!  Yuk!  I know we are on the same page with that human salesmanship and manipulation.

Now the ride to Calgary, and beyond, well I am overflowing with envy!  I am very happy for you and for the traveling companions you have along with you out there enjoying the greatness of this North American continent.........but I am deep green with envy.

         Well up to This point in time-I REFUSE to speculate-I'm still Mostly kinda sorta in control of my bodily functions.  But I duz notice the heat raises more hell with my body than it ever used too including The Nam.  Far as the political types go I'm believing if all of em were put in a room and their actual brains removed amongst them I doubt there'd be an ounce in aggregate weight.
