I was impressed watching a gun show on the weekend. It showed the Legends Cowboy gun collection. CO2 pellet guns that take a fake cartridge that holds a pellet, then you load the "firearm" and shot it.

I've a few questions. Does anyone have one of these replica BB "guns"?

I'm thinking they would make a good replacement of a firearm that I can hang/display. Since we need to have legal firearms secured in a vault/safe, we can't display them.

Sold out of the one I want. But the BB guns are actually cheaper than these replicas. And they can be used. Could make for a fun day. I could also take beginners to the range, and teach them some gun safety, before actually shooting a real gun.

But could the BB gun be used as a replica? I'm wondering the weight, materials, the feel, would they be close enough to the real thing to make them worth wild to buy?

I've never bought CO2 canisters, never shot one, so I don't know how many shots you can get out of one. Any idea?

They seem cheap, 40/$20. I've only had break open .177 pellet guns, rifle/pistol.

I've also thought of an Air Soft for the one I want. A British Sterling. For conversion into a Star Wars E11 Blaster.

Old Massad Ayoob, a long serving NH policeman, firearms instructor, expert witness, gun writer and author, wrote that he always hung a broken (but looked good) gun near his front door, so the moment he entered his house he knew if burglars had been (or were still) there.

I had BB guns as a kid, and my favorite was a Winchester lookalike, but not CO2.  I have a Benjamin Sheridan pump Silver Streak (.177) hanging over my basement walkout door.

I shot some CO2s, and new cartridges provided good power, but power dropped off after X shots (8-10?).    

My good wall hangers are old but working Mauser bolt rifles that cost around a hundred bucks (in the 80s); with good (correct to model) bayonets that ran $20-40.  I think an old beater rifle or shotgun would make a better display than a new BB gun (or a new looking replica).  Some may already not work, but it would not be hard to render one inoperable (though I don't know how stringent your law may be).  Weld up the barrel or bolt.  I always took mine apart, and cleaned them up and polished the metal, but I did not refinish them to new, I like the old look.  

It would kind of be a shame to demill an old working (and still safe to shoot) rifle, but if you could find an old beater for cheap, it would be easy to do.  A bayonett makes any wall hanger much better.  Even if the display no longer works as a firearm, it makes a hell of a spear. (though the vast majority of old bayonets for old rifles have never been sharpened, and good collectors are never sharpened)



You could contact any local ranges, gun shops or gunsmiths to see if they have any old beaters (working or unworking).

My local range has a nice display of firearms that have blown up from overcharged handloads or other operator error.  (not my idea of a nice wall hanger, but they definitely don't work anymore)

(Unfortunately there is not enough "bullets" with this gun, anybody know how many times he shoots? I had to look it up)

But I absolutely do not need another gun. (Can't shoot the ones I have now around the place due to an extremely frightened Great Dane!)

But, a replica Pellet gun might just work...
And I like the idea of hanging it above the door, like in the old days. (at least in the movies)

I have no experience with CO guns either, so I'll keep an eye on this thread. 8-10 shots don't sound good at all...

Several years ago, I saw a U-tube on a guy that had auto BB gun.  the Gun had a drum with several thousand rounds.  He showed it shooting up various stuff in his back yard.  One was a old TV tube.  Destroyed it.  Look like fun, but would hate to pick up the spent rounds.

I wasn't sure if Gordon was mostly interested in a BB gun, or a firearm wall hanger display that didn't violate his Canadian (or Province) prohibition of not keeping firearms locked up.

I have an RWS Diana (discontinued) spring piston (single rooster) .22 pellet rifle I'd let go cheap.  It's a nice West German rifle with real wood and blued metal.  Also throw in the cheap Chinese air rifle scope it came with that could not be zeroed in without shimming the mount (that came real close to being hammer tested).  

But I have no idea how much fun it would be to ship to Canada.

You need a firearms permit to purchase same as a real firing gun here in NJ.

Possessing a slingshot is not illegal in my County, but firing one outdoors is (if you lack the requisite acreage); along with firearms, BB and pellet guns, bow and arrows, blowguns, or even throwing a rock if you hit a dwelling.

But you can drive around with your nose in a phone or text all day long (not really, but I've never heard of any enforcement, unless at the scene of a bad accident).

My squirrels laugh when I open the window with my wrist rocket.  I've made like three hits in 20 years, and word apparently gets around.  

I have a better hit ratio with the kitchen sink sprayer, if they get close enough to that window.

I have a co2 pistol semi auto and can get shoot around 30 bb's or so before running out of juice with the last few not much power coming out at all.  If you cannot get at least 20 powerful bb shots then I say not worth it since the co2 cartridges are not cheap.

I bought it back in 2013 and have only taken it to the range that one year. I have some family/friends who want to try there hand at shooting. I miss it, but since the wife has nothing to do with it, the riding is better as she likes that.

Actually the reviews, especially good one by Airgun Detectives, put the number of good shots at over 30.  I really like this gun.  Gives me an idea for my son for Christmas.  And while at it might as well live my John Wayne with

Very fun gun...I've got several grandsons that love to shoot that gun every time they come over.

I found that Hornady Black Diamond BB's work best when using the speedloader to load the magazine.  Other brands I've tried have too many oversized shot and jam the speedloader.

Thank you, I'm going to order it when we get back from vacation next week. I have a 6 and 9 year old that are dying to shoot. My wife wont let me get them a real rifle until they can prove they know the safety about guns. So this would be perfect to start them out on. Then graduate them to a rifle for deer season next year.

Holly Cow! A nice set there. Looks like Mk4.

Mine is the Mk3 on the right end, the silverish with the slots.

Individual upgrades aren't too expensive, but the cost of all I wanted was close to $300 USD. I could buy a new Mk4 for a little more.

On the full rack the right 5 are MK3's the rest are MK4's.  The 3 on the other rack are MK4's too.

I've added Volquartsen and Majestic Arms trigger kits, Hogue grips, aftermarket rear sights and various red dots to several of mine.  Plus they can all host a suppressor.

I haven't looked yet, but the Volquartsen is for the Mk4 only, and supposedly not enough room inside the trigger guard to get your finger in after it's installed. I haven't check/compared yet, but you have the 2 models, 3 & 4. Have you installed one on the Mk3 then?

I have 3 of all those pics listed all daisy lineup, nothing special under 60 bucks new with my much more powerful Gamo rifle around $150 being much heavier and LOUDER than my ruger 22 semi auto.  That GAMO is NOT quiet and scary LOUD am sure the neighbors can hear it easily inside their house with windows open and believe it or not, sort of kicks as well being near as heavy as my ruger 30.06 rifle.  If I had to do it again,  I would pick one that said WHISPER on it some of them are much quieter than my Gamo am sure of it. 

I never really knew all those BB pistols/rifles  existed before and look so real nowadays cannot even tell the difference from the REAL one high powered ones.

If you can get over 30 powerful BB's out of 1 CO2 cartridge you are doing good.  My daisy pistol is semi automatic and my kid  when he was younger and I went thru all 5 in one pack C02 cartridges in a matter of less than 1 hour.    AS they say, shoot and shoot MORE often!
