The guy has won BUNCHES of games with just mediocre players around him also. I think there is no doubt he and Belicheck (sp.) will go down as the greatest of all times at their positions. (That doesn't mean I have to like it though)

The guy is a fanatic about nutrition and health ( big fan of turmeric as am I ) which probably has led to his unprecedented career.  I remember him from his playing days at Michigan when at one time he was number 7 on their quarterback list but became starter his Jr. and SR years, fending off at that time the most highly recruited high school quarterback, Drew Henson out of Brighton, MI.  Hard to believe he was only the 199th pick in the NFL.  He was also drafted by the Montreal Expos who threw a lot of money his way out of high school to play baseball, which he turned down.


As for age, back in the 90s I had the pleasure to talk with George Blanda many times as he wintered in Palm Springs.  This guy played until 48 as a kicker, but was a heck of a quarterback also.   He referred to his days in the early 60s with the AFL Houston Oilers as his most fun time playing football as they opened up their offense and he led the league in passing ( and set some pro records at that time ) for a few years.  He spoke fondly of Charlie Hennigan as a great receiver during those years.  I will never forget him coming off the bench for the Oakland Raiders in 1970 week after week at 43 years old when Daryl Lamonica would get injured and lead those Raiders to comeback victories by throwing touchdown passes and kicking long field goals at the end of the game.  He had some good stories about Bear Bryant also as he played for Bear's first teams at Kentucky, I think in the late 40s.  He finished his career as the NFL leader in points, which has since been eclipsed.

Gordie Howe began an NHL career at age 18 and hung up his blades at age 52.  Not too shabby.

Generally speaking, a very good quarterback surrounded by a very good team with a great coach.  The fact that he's still playing at his age is a testament to how good his offensive line is.  The offensive linemen know how much bigger he makes their paychecks and do whatever it takes to protect him as much as possible.

Montana and Rice were IMO the best tag team that I can remember along with the Cowboys back in the day.  In the modern era I think nothing even comes close to the Brady decade and he looks as young or younger now than he did in his late 20's.  His HOT wife must be keeping him in shape at home..

I do not like it either, but hard to rag on a team Dynasty for sure.

Although I am partially biased to the Brett Favre era as well being a WI native....  No one can say that he was not interesting to watch throwing hail marry bombs up in hopes his receiver will snag it.  the game right after his Dad passed was impressive numbers for sure.

So let us interject some truth along with the sarcasm; the Giants are currently 2-5 (season over) and that Manning is riding the pine as he is statistically "washed up" as a starting NFL quarterback; fine career, but he's done, the rookie goes the rest of the way as the team's starter.  Manning will probably retire with honors following the season, and well he should get his final salute at the home stadium.

I remember seeing Lamar Jackson when he was a sophomore at Louisville.   I saw the speed and arm strength and accuracy and thought this guy could be special at least in college and he was.  I have also seen what the NFL has done to other talents like his with Vince Young from Texas and Robert Griffin III from Baylor.  Cam Newton has done well but being hit with such force is taking a toll on him.  I hope this Jackson guy goes onto greatness, but when they are coming for you Lamar - go for the ground.
