Shifter Support

Does anyone have the dimensions center to center, From the center of the shift pin coming from the crank case to the center of the mounting bolt of the crash bar. Or is there a reply anywhere with those dimensions? I want to see what I can come up with on my CNC Router.

Probably quicker if you measure in place for that particular piece. After you clock the shifter bracket (red thingie), you can then measure the center-to-center spacing for hanger piece that bolts onto the engine guard. Project the offsets or use dowels etc to line up two points in the same plane (second pic). I pictured the shifter bracket with a single anchor point into the foot pedal but, yes, everybody uses two anchor points at the foot pedal end of the shifter bracket.

1" center to center seems a bit close.

This is a good measurement, I show 1.028" on my CAD drawing. So in this case I do not think 28 thousands make any difference, it can go to the trash.

Yes, this is my Shifter Buddy that I sell, did lots of research to come up with this bracket. It does lock on to the shaft with a set screw. I can't advertise here so thank you.  I don't have a patent on this design, but I have a poor mans copy right on the shifter buddy.

Yes, it does take a lot of research. I'm more of a fan of the inboard version like yours. I had saved a pic. Didn't know whose it was.

I understand the forum's policy despite it diminishes the forum's ability to serve as an incubator for innovations, er, better served without the ban. But then again, it's like selling something on somebody's front yard from their side of the screen. It's expensive to maintain a server, anti-virus software, etc. Then the time the administrators spend behind the scenes must consume hours of their free time. Never understood why they don't hold a annual fund raiser as a revenue source. Valkyries aren't in production any longer, so Seafoam or big tire companies ain't gonna advertise here.

Anyways, I have a question on how large the pivot joint on the support bracket should be. Specifically, is a larger diameter pivot joint better? I would think a larger surface area would wear less on a larger bushing. Or, is a narrow pin at the pivot joint better?

The shifting is probably one of the few design shortfalls of the Valkyrie.  To fix it this requires a SOLID second support for the pivoting of the internal spindle (24620-MN5-000)... a support that provides precise pivoting and won't slip over time.  Based on Ammpro's (RIP) original design, the Jersey Bracket was created... with a few improvements.

In developing this JerseyMCProducts tested a number of designs, including those attempting to clamp around the extension arm (24711-MN5-000).  Unfortunately these proved weak over time for the type of forces being applied.  Setscrews and clamping were just not strong enough to match what we all know and appreciate about the Valkyrie - DURABILILTY!

As part of this (and based on my aerospace background), the Jersey Bracket was designed and built with the same approach as today's aircraft.  Using aerospace grade material, the Jersey Bracket will never needs lubricating or maintenance and Will NEVER SLIP or weaken.  In essence - Install it ONCE and forget about it. Laser cut from shiney 304 Stainless Steel, the Jersey Bracket will never rust and almost out reflects even the best Chrome.  And unlike Chrome, the Jersey Bracket will never pit.
