When I am out cruising back roads on my Valkyrie I like to read small church signs.     Some are serious and some are humorous.    Here are a few recently seen in rural America.....

THE FACT THAT THERE IS A HIGHWAY TO HELL
AND ONLY A STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN
SAYS A LOT ABOUT ANTICIPATED TRAFFIC NUMBERS

I find that amusing cuz as a kid back in Iowa I saw that often....that plus riding their horse to church. They did finally move the rail to the back of the church where there were no open windows nearby. Seems the horses....being horses....would add some flavor to the service with both sound and smell.  ;)

In regards to hitching rails at churches, the little church that my mom attends still has one on the outside of the covered row of tables for the pot-luck dinners after service. No cute signs though the current pastor is trying to convince the congregation that a new sign is in order. The majority of the congregation seems to feel that if you live in the area, you know where the church is without a big sign. Like most small rural churches in the area, the congregation is largely 3+ generations invested in the church. I know whenever I visit, there is always a new great niece or nephew I haven't met. Or a new (to me) third cousin that recently returned to the flock.
Life is about the ride, not the destination.
