Yes, very touching indeed, it reminded me of a similar situation. Last year the chair that was occupied at mealtime on Thanksgiving and Christmas is empty this year. Life, though empty now, must go on. Can't wait for the holidays to be over.

  I posted to display my appreciation of your retort without either agreeing or contradicting.  I myself, being well short of the recognition provided by a doctorate, do not have the ability to initialize previously unknown elements of vocabulary.

I didn't, btw, specify whether your being human would be an elevation or a degradation.  You are, after all, known to be a functioning Harley mechanic.

Brings a tear to the eye. 38 years on Cali State Highways in a orange truck of sorts. Saw much of the same stuff on the road as the Troopers. Often times before "they" arrived on scene. Twenty-three Christmas mornings slipped by before I spent a Christmas morning at home. By that time the kids were grown and gone. Just me and the kids mamma. Home alone. Made for a time to pause and reflect.

Really nice story... thanks mucho for sharing! I hadn't seen it before, so... well... let's just say I got in touch with my feminine side again... See, I don't just throw a ball like a girl, I also easily weep, sob, moisten my cheeks like one, too... (Please tell Petra I apologize if any of that sounds sexist to her!). Looking forward to seeing y'all in the coming year... Dang, I was so close a couple of times this past year, but we just couldn't pull it off... Oh well, I'll just keep doing it until I do eventually get it right!!! Merry Christmas (or whatever holiday y'all observe)!!!
