Haven't seen this one, but if you and/or he are into WWI history be sure to watch "They Shall Not Grow Old" however you can. I saw it in the theater twice, it's incredible. Real footage that's been cleaned up using the same special effects studio that did Lord of the Rings.....

Yes this is a great documentary.  Colorized old footage, much never released prior to this.  It is sometimes tough to watch, but you will never forget it.

Seen it?  No; I was born in the 60s.  My grandfather saw it, but he was only 5 years old at the time.  I would ask him if he remembers it, but he died in 2015.  I'd be very surprised if anyone on this board saw it.

Saw I believe last year with my Brother-Army-and his neighbor Jim a Doctor who also served in the Army. We were All BLOWN away by this movie. In a couple days going with Jim and his Son to see 1917. From the trailers I've seen on the T V looks like it may be good. We shall see!  RIDE SAFE.

I thoroughly enjoyed the movie ! I don't know where they made the movie, but the landscape and terrain was nearly identical to the France/Belgium border area that we were at last year.

I missed 90 percent of the dialog  , English accents  .
I'd give it a 3.5  out of five stars

If I like to go fast , does that make me a racist ???

my grandfather was there trench warfare France arogonne forest the worst fighting of that war. He never really recovered psychologically from it.  He told me he killed at least eight men in hand to hand combat.  Never saw the man smile I hope he is resting in peace.

My Grandfather was enroute by train to get on the ship to go over, when it ended - Thank God.  So sorry about your Grandfather.  He should have never been sent, none of them, IMO.  This was a bankers war, years in the making.  On both sides the soldiers should have shot their generals and walked home.  40 million deaths.

I don't know how anybody could recover from that. May your grandpa Rest In Peace.

I saw it. Was good but not in my top 10. The videography was quite good. It's dark as you might expect. Not as interesting as Saving Private Ryan. Hard to follow as the Brit accents are quite heavy but maybe that's just me.

"1917" is a fabulous movie!

A poignant story line, great cinematography and sound . . . should win the Oscar for Best Picture.

"Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" is a really good flick too.  I think it caught the late 1960's era, but takes a major liberty on actual history from that era; an outcome twist for the better.

The "Two Popes" is another worthwhile flick to see, on Netflix at the moment.  Two senior actors still at the top of their game.  A little bit of a history lesson for those interested.
