Would you think that this bike with 20,000 miles and few extras would be worth $5,000. I know it's not much info to go on but that's what we many times have to start with when a bike is hundreds of miles away. I always thought I liked the color but I don't believe I have ever seen one in person. I know there are cheaper Interstates out there and they all have their pluses and minuses. Could this one be bought cheaper? I don't know.

If it's in good running condition with decent tires, I'd pay 5k for it.

It's worth what someone is willing to pay.

Also depends on how it was stored when sitting, but it looks pretty nice.

Also depends on your end game.  As an investment, not good. As a bike to keep and ride, nice.

2) it looks like a Mustang seat ? Have you ridden with one before ?
3) I couldn't see much in the way of accessories. What all does it have ?
4) at our ages, it matters little what others think of our desires. How much is it worth to you ?
5) I paid $7,500 for mine. I probably could have found one cheaper. Best $7,500 I ever spent though.
6) opinions ? Mine is, buy the bike and get back in to riding. Life is short, enjoy it.

With that low of mileage I'd be concerned it sat for years untouched, and that can be the the death knell for a vehicle....

Having said that, my current Interstate is not...... in pristine condition. One of these days I'm gonna search for my unicorn, low mileage Interstate cosmetically and mechanically in great shape.

If that one passes the mechanical once over test, runs well, rides well, then it sounds like you just found YOUR unicorn...

Now Rob, your opinion on Valkyries is as good as, or better than, most anyone else.

Thanks for all the replies. Since this one has ? marks, I'll reply. Haven't seen it in person, probably a four hour drive away. I'm am fairly certain it is a stock seat. The rack on the trunk seems to be the only add on but looks like it has a cb antenna so maybe the radio too. I could see me spending $5k on it but I would want to be sure about mechanics and tires ect. As an Interstate owner, I value your opinion as much as anyone else, even though you are not a deplorable.

It's a bare bones Interstate.  It's worth $5,000 if you're willing to pay it.  More equipped Interstates can be had for $1,000 or more less.

You are right about the seat. I missed that. If it has a CB that is a plus. Although in honesty, I seldom use mine.
I'm assuming you've been looking at Interstates. For me, there are some add ons that I'm very glad I have. Pod lights, bag rails, pillion floor boards, (I've also come to really like my rider floor boards). Mine came with the Ultimate low rider seat combo. It was better than stock. But far and away the best add on I've  got on my bike is the Russell's. If you aren't planning on 500-800 mile days, it's probably not an issue.
I wish you luck in your search for an I/S, and getting back riding.

If you are interested, make the 4hr ride and check it out. Take $5k cash with you, if you think it is worth $5k spend it, if you don't think it's worth it, but still want it, offer less and work your way up.

Buy an Interstate with the accessories you want all ready installed, because they are to hard to find in good condition.
A packages deal is the better deal.

Well, I'll throw my 2 cents in.

If the bike is in superior mechanical and cosmetic condition, and even adjusting for age, yes, I would value such a bike at the 5k point.

I searched for a green/cream tourer for 5 years. I paid a fair price and then shipped it across country adding $680 to the price. Never regretted the premium costs.

No. $1000 less or even more than $1000 less.

Six years ago I bought a better equipped Interstate for $3500.

The best answer I can give is that any material thing has a value in someone's mind. In this case, the only two that it will come down to are you and the seller. They have their price, and it's up to you as to whether it's worth it to you. Prices on Valks have dropped dramatically over the past couple years. Good if you are buying; not too good if you are selling. Craigslist recently started charging to list a vehicle, so motorcycle listings have dropped off significantly. On FB Marketplace, I have a handful of Valkyries within 50 or 60 miles that are all over the range. A couple standards at $2500 ish, up to an Interstate listed at $8100. I'm fairly certain that bike won't sell anytime soon, and if they're getting any messages, they're lowball offers.

If this bike is just what you're looking for, and it has been maintained properly, it is worth $5K if you feel it is. It's only the end of January, but here in the northeast, prices are rising a bit, as people are looking fondly toward spring. Chances are, if you keep watching, other Valkyries will be listed soon. They may not be the color scheme this one is, and they might not be as clean either. These are 20 ish year old bikes. You'll have some babied ones and some that definitely weren't. Life's too short to not have the things you want, if you can swing it comfortably. I had wanted a Valk for years, but finally decided it was time a couple years ago. I looked at several absolute roaches before finding my 98. Mine did require some repairs, but it was more due to lack of understanding the required maintenance than neglect. Had I waited until now, I could have probably bought the same bike for $1200 less, but then I wouldn't have had two good seasons riding it, so there's that.

If you do buy it and it serves you well, forget the price. No doubt, you'll see a similar one listed next fall for $3800. It is what it is, so don't let it bug you. Buy the Valk you want, but don't do it for the resale value. Who knows what it will be in a few more years.
