Yes, it is Valentine’s Day, I know. Judy and don’t celebrate this particular day because we think every day should be special that way. Valentine’s Day is special for me because it’s the day my 97 red and white Valkyrie was delivered to my house from Ft Lauderdale.
After an exhausting five minute search on the internet I found the only two Valkyries that I was interested in that were in Florida. That was eighteen years ago. There weren’t a lot of Valkyrie’s for sale back then. I had just a couple minutes to decide if I would buy one of the bikes at Pompano Pats.
I asked for more pictures and quickly chose the red and white over a black one that was two years younger but had more miles on it.
So they put it on the trailer of bikes headed north and said I’d have it the next day. So right now is the anniversary of stress and cold sweats. So, the next day at ten in the morning a truck pulls up with a long trailer with at least 20 crappy looking bikes. I’m like holy crap what did I do. Then when it finally stopped I saw the very last bike. A like new 97 standard that was going to change my life for the next eighteen years so far. When the big burly biker that was the truck driver rolled the bike up my driveway like it was a little toy, he said in a loud gruff voice “happy Valentine’s Day”
So today to commemorate the occasion I gave the old girl a face lift. Removed the windshield and cleaned and polished everything you can’t get to with the shield on including finally finishing the buffing out of the yellowed looking lower triple tree. She’s all ready for an anniversary ride tomorrow for sure!
