A New York City man who's now been arrested 139 times thanked Democrats for guaranteeing his immediate release despite repeatedly swiping hundreds of dollars from unsuspecting subway commuters since the state's new bail reform law went into effect Jan. 1.

Charles Barry, 56, has been arrested six times since the start of this year. He's been released each time without having to post bail under New York's new bail reform law since his alleged offenses were nonviolent, the New York Daily News reported. In the past, Barry's served several stints in state prison and has a lengthy record, including six felonies, 87 misdemeanors and 21 missed court hearings, the newspaper reported, citing court records.

"Bail reform, it's lit!" Barry yelled to reporters Thursday outside the NYPD Transit District 1 headquarters in the Columbus Circle station before officers transported him to Manhattan Central Booking. "It's the Democrats! The Democrats know me and the Republicans fear me. You can't touch me! I can't be stopped!"

We had a murder a few days ago on the block where my office is.  It was a decade since the last one on the block but there have been some on the road every year, mostly young black kids being killed by other young black kids  The last murder was in the entrance of a building built for program tenants.... where the owner gets a big tax break and the tenants rent is paid with my tax dollars. My next door neighbors, the 7th Day Adventist Church sold to a group who is going to build another one of those

There have been so many robberies at the Walgreen on the corner (my other neighbor) that they are closing in March.  

There are NO police on foot and no cars parked on the street either.

How can you deter crime if you hide in the precinct or just spend time cruising the same roads looking for people running a red light?

Yet if I am caught carrying I get 5 yrs and lose my license to practice law

When I attended Wayne State U Law School in Detroit, I carried a detective special into school every day (no permit, and none could be had, by me) after one of our law profs was murdered for his briefcase with a book and an apple in it in our parking garage.  I didn't need it in class, but I needed it in Detroit, and walking to and from classes.  Later, I carried a .45 auto to and from (and in) my solo practice office.  Some of my clients (court assigned defense work) were not nice people.

Wait, aren't you an officer of the court and supposed to obey all laws?  Yes, but I'm not an idiot.

The Detroit cops once found my billy club under my car seat.  After they found out I was a student with no record, they gave it back saying I might need it.  

Years later (when they were still being made) I sold that Det Spl for like $175.... so I guess sometimes I am an idiot.

Sorry Oss, but those cops are just sitting in the precinct,  but they're sitting there because they're disgusted and aggravated because they're hands are tied.....the mayor, the laws, and the state won't let them do their jobs.  One officer told me it's like spitting in the ocean. They're confused how to apprehend,  for fear of retribution.  They see the same people they arrested yesterday back on the streets today, and many in the community dont like them......dont know how anyone can do a job under those circumstances
