Just listening to Pandora and reading some posts on the board here.  This song is on now.

I was in the Navy (Submarine Service) and when on patrol (60 days at a time), we would sometimes get short notes from home (family grams).  I would also leave letters behind to be mailed out at internals to my wife and family.  Not the same but I see understand the song.

During the 13 months I spent in Korea, letters and packages from home and family were a lifesaver.  Especially during the holidays.  I couldn't imagine what it would have been like without that support.

I found frequent visits to 'the vil' took the edge off nicely...
