Died 3/20/2020
Kenny Rogers, a longtime star of country music, died Friday night, according to a statement posted by his family. He was 81. Known for such hits as "The Gambler," "Lady," "Islands in the Stream," and "Lucille," Rogers died peacefully at home of natural causes at 10:25 p.m., the statement said.

Enjoyed his music , movies.

I was a kid when the song The Gambler came out and was a big fan of westerns too, that song just made the imagination real vivid of a cowboy gambler. It's a song I still enjoy when I do catch it on the radio from time to time and for that I say thanks.

RIP Kenny.

What song did the trucker sing when he saw one of his truck wheels roll past him while driving down the freeway?

"You picked a fine time to leave me loose wheel!" :coolsmiley: :uglystupid2:

Too bad. 81 of natural causes, kinda young.

I liked some of his older stuff with the First Edition more than his pop-country stuff.  Ruby, don't take your love to town.

R.I.P. Kenny, the dealin's done.

Just read about that, much too early at 81. My favorite song of his was "Lady" which I would sing to Rita as we slow danced in the kitchen. The last few years I was doing more "holding up" than dancing but it was still oh so special.

That was very nice John, I pictured the dance and got teary eyed. God Bless you John.

I don't know who the guy that died is. I saw the pictures of this dude, and I don't think he is the same Kenny Rogers I remember from the eighties and nineties. Maybe somebody else assumed his identity.
I am extremely confused.

That was really heartfelt, Calboy!

He had some plastic surgery done to his face some years back. Totally changed his looks....a change I didn't like, seemed too drastic.

shadowsoftime

He didn't look like Kenny Rogers after facelift.
I liked the movie ''Six Pack'' the kid says, ''going to shake the dew off my lily''

Someone needs to post a before pic of him, I can't do it, computer screwed up.

+1

extreme facelift especially to eyebrows. I think he should have left well enough alone.

When interviewed - Dolly Parton will admit to having some cosmetic surgery here and there, a nip here, a tuck there, but I think she is doing a beautiful job of holding her apparent age without exagerating the fact she is having it done.

Kenny Rogers lived in our neighborhood when I was a kid. His Dad was our milk man. I remember stuffing a potato up the exhaust pipe of that milk truck. It didn't go POP like we wanted. I'd just died. Good times.

Do it while you can. I did.... it my way

I met Kenny many times as a kid a good friend growing up his dad was in a jazz band called the Bobby Doyle trio Kenny played bass guitar. My brother got a few lessons for free from Kenny and all these years later my brother still plays bass professionally.  A super nice guy  was how I remember him and  I was so happy when he made the big time.  rip Kenny  you will be missed.

Ken aka Oil Burner

Kenny Rogers was one of the first artists I knew of as a kid. I remember listening to the Gambler on my parent's big old record player (if you're 40 or older, you probably know what I'm talking about). I remember him on TV, too. The stuff that stands out in my mind is the stuff he did with Dolly on TV (can't imagine why ).

I saw something yesterday that made me chuckle. Something to the effect of "R.I.P. to the 70's panty dropper."
