2003 Valkyrie Valve Cover Gasket And Where To Apply Hondabond

Need a little bit of help here.
Had the valves checked and adjusted and I am replacing the valve cover gaskets.
I don't think  it's really necessary but I bought the gaskets and plan on replacing them.
I know that I must use sealant (Hondabond), on four distinct points but i don't know exactly where.
Maybe someone can show me a picture and pinpoint  where the sealant needs to be applied.

It's easy. Little square landings a bit less than half an inch square right next to the cam bearing seals just a dab on each landing is all you need.

It's where the flat section meet the half rounds. Look for the squeeze outs circled below.

You can look at that diagram all you want, because unless you take the valve cover off you won't know where to put some of that sealant.
I just can't make sense of that "diagram" and I have the Shop Manual, the paper version of it.

The picture you posted is a hundred times better than what's shown in the manual at page 8-25
By the way, I got it done yesterday. Nothing to it, really.

Agreed, the diagram for where to put the 4 spots of sealant makes you scratch your head. Like said, after you remove the valve cover you understand that the camshaft holder is part of the diagram. On top of that just above the section is another diagram where to put the 4 spots of sealant for the camshaft holder, and almost identical (bottom pic). 4 more weeks of lockdown.

Tried Hondabond 1521, didn't work, 1521 is like contact cement, very thin and runs down and makes a mess.  My cover leaked trying 1521.   Bought Permatex 2 Form-A-Gasket Sealant, worked great, found info in other postings.  Still used 1521, applied it to the cover to hold the new gasket in place.  Applied the Permatex with a Q-Tip, it's thick and stays where you apply it.  No more leak.

unless you're skilled enough to apply the hondabond perfectly flat and in an even layer around the entire gasket, hondabond is not suppose to be applied on the gasket. Just a dab on the 4 corners where the flat meets the half-rounds.

A new gasket will not stay in place, it comes folded and difficult, the 1521 is so thin it does'nt hinder the gasket, worked great.

black silicone is what I use, never had a problem.  just did valve adjust, used it again.

I've used the flexible form a gasket 2 to hold gaskets works well.

Ya, I ordered the sealant in the manual, the 1521, this stuff just runs out of the tube, messy, maybe I got a bad tube.  So I used it to hold the gasket in place, applied with a small brush, just spread it on thin and set the gasket in it, no problem.  There's no way it would go on the four spots, it just runs down leaving almost nothing.   So I redid it with the Permatex.
