triple tree swap out and maintenance

Did  a little maintenance today. Pulled my 5 degree triple tree off and installed a 6 degree and installed new chrome cobra tire up front. Can't really tell much difference between the 5 and 6 degree.

Changing from 5 deg. to 6 deg. you will not notice any change when turning. Your arms and shoulders will feel the same amount of resistance. My trike, I installed a 4 deg. triple tree and was disappointed with the amount of change in handling. 20 years ago a 4 deg. rake kit was recommended for a Valkyrie trike and a Goldwing trike got 6 degrees. I would change mine to 6 deg. but the cost and amount of work required is not worth the difference to me.

when my valkyrie trike was first built by motortrike i kept the stock tree, let me tell you it was like trying to steer a log truck with no power steering. i then bought a 4 degree, there was some relief in the steering and i was quite happy with it till my shoulders were really getting tired after 50 miles. i had very good friends from ny. and canada that purchased a 6 degree out of the goodness of their hearts and i installed it. there was a considerable difference between the 4 and the 6. changing the tree is not alot of work. if i remember correctly it took me 4 hours. but it was well worth it.

Took me around 4 hrs and that was also changing out a front tire. Wasn't bad at all. Will probably sell my 5 degree triple tree.

How would the 5 degree affect the ride of a two wheeler? I'm happy with how my tourer handles but like the looks of the rake.

I can't say, but have seen several on here with a rake kit. Maybe they will chime in.

I have over 60,000 miles using Daryl's 4 degree Triple Trees.
Comes off the kickstand easily, rides nice, and steers like it has power steering. 
It will change the U turn radius slightly and also lower your front end about one half inch.   
I suppose there is a sight change in the way the forks react but I have not notice any great change with 4 degree Triple Tree.
I did not do this change without researching it first.

I know they sell some fork extensions. What I did with mine was install the 1800 Goldwing Progressive springs. Swapped to 7.5 wt oil and put 1.5 less oil than it called for. The springs gave me around 1/2 to 3/4 inch more on travel and the lighter oil relaxed the rebound. I was running 10 wt and removed 1.5 once in each one. Was to me still a little stiff so after changing to the 7.5 and 1.5 oz less in each fork it rides real nice.
