This morning's accomplishment

My MIL's house has a garage, which is where I store my Valk and some of our (too much) stuff.

Sometime ago, MIL or D hit the garage door with her car and bent the heck out of one side's garage door track. To the point that to close the door, I had to stand behind it and push the bottom out so it would close properly.

Found a business on the web that sells "garage door parts" - ordered a pair of tracks, some stainless steel nuts and bolts and 3 brackets (American Garage door <something>). Ordered Monday, parts arrived yesterday afternoon (from Beimini Mn). Got up this morning and got to work on it. Track needed to be shortened about 5/8 inch, then needed 2 holes drilled that went into the slot joining the curved / horizontal track (new holes were so I could line them up correctly). Then I got the physical lock on the door moved to be in line with the slot in the track for holddown.

Same sort of problem with my mom's. The "carport" (closed in) is slowly sinking, the door scraps on the ground.

Bolts, pivots needed replacing or lubing. Tracks re-aligned. Now my Bro move his old auto opener into it, so mom doesn't have to lift it, even a remote from the house works. Still a little more to tighten up, but it's now functional.

I guess I owe you that much - It is working as designed and intended.

  Garage doors are overlooked as for service. There is a special lube sold at most big box and hardware stores .  Release the manual opener  (emergency) cable. The door should raise very easy. Readjust or get an independent door service to all adjustments.  Lube at least once a year , twice is better.

Just moved out of the house. MIL is still here, and she has CRS.

I have thought about putting something on the garage door for her to align her vehicle to - one that places it on the driveway easily, yet should provide me enough space to get my Valk out of the garage safely (and I could always put the Valk on the grass instead of her car tires).
