I remember reading about this condition that gets extreme every now and then.  I think I read it in the Weekly Reader in grade school about mid 1960s, not sure.  Leave it to modern meteorologist to come up with an over the top name.

My best friend has lived on St John for 15 years. Shara dust hits every year and has always been called that.

yep, yearly event. The extent changes . This one apparently is kinda bad and will cross the gulf and raise into the southern states. It looks like it will miss Florida. Just think, this from an area once covered with water.
Its also thought it will lessen the chances of hurricanes.

well at least with the pandemic with everyone suppose to be wearing and having masks,  they will serve a dual purpose in states like TX and Louisiana, among other southern states.

So they're blaming it on Gorillas?

Come on, I'm sure it's Trump's fault.   :P

Patrick

i guess I didn't realize it was caused by gorillas.  ???  . I wonder just they were doing.

Of course its all Trumps fault. Who or what else could do such a thing.

It arrived last night and is fully visible today.

What does it look like in the sun or moonlight ?

From my perspective (I live near Britman) it seems overcast... but there's a slight
haze and it seems and smells... dusty...

-Mike "then it rained..."

I thought maybe it might have some different coloring to it, didn't think about a smell.

Light hazy grey sky all day. The crap was low enough that the hills around Clayton looked hazy.

I was going to ride but decided I didn't want crap force fed up my nose. I know this happens during high pollen days.

I saw the dust late this afternoon. It was strange kind of looked like it was really humid until it hit me the sky was a brown/orange color to the right and blue to the left. It was dust. Just looked a little hazy which for here is normal when the humidity gets up there. It was dust colored all the way to ground level.

I was outside all day so it wasn't anything to worry about.
