Stimulus payment?

Just curious....anybody still waiting for their stimulus check/deposit besides me? When I first checked in April I was told it was scheduled for mailing May 8. Six weeks following that date....nothing. Then I was finally able to insert my bank info for direct deposit once the IRS corrected conflicting directions re. refunds carried forward. That was mid-June and periodic checks keep telling me it will be deposited in the bank account I gave them and the last four of my account is noted. Now it is August 1st and again approx. six weeks later....nothing. Sure would be nice, especially since I've been told I qualify for $2400. I'd use it to pay for my InZane trip expenses, the rest would go into savings. So....curious minds and all that!

John,
I don't have an answer for you but, I'm confused about the dollar amount.

My understanding is that each individual should receive $1,200.   Married couples can get $2,400.   I'm not trying to get personal or know your business.

I haven't moved as you have, can't remember exactly when you headed north.

But, we had not received ours. I went on the website and called the number. The first 3 times we were told we called too soon [ July was too soon ?].

Called again a couple weeks ago and answered their questions about not receiving anything. They apparently confirmed what we told them and as they said we received a debit card on Monday. Went to the bank and they put right in the checking account without any hassle. OH, they said that millions had not yet recieved a check or card. I still think that the envelope was thrown away as it looked at an ordinary new credit card mailing everyone gets, but, JoAnn insists she didn't throw anything like that away. I was surprised at how soon we got the card after the last phone call.

This is the reply I got from my  Congresswoman's office.
I have not called the IRS number yet.

Hello, this is Rachel Morse from Congresswoman Horn's office. I was given your inquiry regarding the Economic Impact Payment, or stimulus check. I am sorry that it's been such a mess! For weeks, I have been fielding calls and e-mails from people in similar situations as you. Recently, the IRS released a statement to Congressional offices that there are still several million people who have not received the EIP yet. Unfortunately, the IRS will not give us a schedule of when and how the remaining folks will get their payment. We are pressuring the IRS for more information; I can promise you that. The IRS has established a hotline for people to call and hopefully talk to an agent. It's a drawn out process but right now it's the best we have. That number is 800-919-9835.

Here's what I've learned with the hotline: there is an almost 2 minute recording at the beginning of the call. Then, callers are put into one of two loops. One loops takes a person through Frequently Asked Questions but does not give an opportunity to speak to a live person. The other loop, though, will mention the FAQ's and the IRS website but will also give opportunity to talk to someone. The first set of people answering calls can only answer frequently asked questions, you have to ask to speak to the next level agent. Those next level agents DO have access to IRS records and info and can usually pinpoint what is happening with the stimulus payment. Finally, I recommend calling early in the morning if you can. The hotline operates on eastern standard time and seem to be less busy around 8-10 a.m. our time.

I hope this information is helpful. My e-mail is Rachel.Morse@mail.house.gov

Rams, Jess is correct. If Rita had died on Jan. 1, 2019(as opposed to May 20), I could still file one last joint return because she was my wife in 2019, makes no difference how long when death is a factor. I filed that last joint return in early Feb. this year through Turbo Tax which doesn't require a signature when done electronically. The information re. her death is recorded in the return papers and I was told by the IRS I was eligible for the $2400. Guess I'll try calling next week, see what happens.  :)

John,
Thanks for the clarification.   I wasn't trying to dig but, wasn't sure if you had the correct information.   Apparently you have.   I simply didn't want you to expect more than what you actually receive and plan on doing something and then come up short.

Hope you get your check soon.   We got our within a few weeks of when the program kicked off and attempted to kick start our local economy immediately.   I'm not convinced it did anyone any good.
My best wishes to you and yours.
