Broken neutral safety switch

I think my neutral safety switch broke on my 99 Interstate. The green (N) light will not go out in any gear. I can get the bike to start and run. Do I just need to replace the switch or is there something else that has broken or need to be replace?

Shorted wire coming out of the front transmission cover?
The switch provides a ground path for the light so if its wire is pinched=light on.
Give that a good visual inspection.

Sounds like the clutch diode or here went south. When it does the neutral light stays ON.

Trying to think this through, would the bike run/drive if the neutral light is on?

I suppose it would run, even when you're in gear. This of course is a safety issue.

Had that happen once. When riding in the rain. Once it dried out (2days later) it started working normally again.
