New DCT wing missing like crazy and a battery that barely starts the bike, herky jerky unexpected downshifts and overall done with it.   It is at Haps Honda in Sarasota. After that say good bye!  :tickedoff:  >:( :(

Flrider

WOW!!!
Did not expect that from Honda goldwing dct, most of what I have heard is good reviews.
I imagine it is still under warranty but I can see that it would leave a sour taste for something that is expected to be trouble free.

Sorry man, hope you can get it moved soon so you can move on to a better ride

Yes factory warranty still in effect. Older wing will do, not picky.

WOW  :o  That stinks hope it all works out good for you 2 in the end.

The wing was picked up way below cost of others for sale last November and from what I see the Manual slightly used is asking more than what I paid. I might luck out on this.

You're not kidding us, you just don't like Dairy Queen and this is an excuse to get rid of the Wing.  ;)

Be interesting to hear what they find out.

You know John how these women tell us things that we don't want to hear and after enough times we can't ignore it anymore?   I did not want to believe that it was indeed not that great of a ride and we were knocking helmets because of the unexpected herky jerky downshifts. Well the last ride was the I can't ignore anymore moment.

I will add that the best bike I have owned was not good two up and was not the best looking bike but that 1800 valk was a damn good bike.

So sorry to hear it turned out that way for you & Sherry. That really sucks! That sounds not much better than Nick's experience with the F6B. You still have the hotrod also, correct?

Totally agree and the focus at the moment, however the prices of these years are way high.

One difference is Nick was happy saving the ghost shifting.

Sorry to hear. I know you'll work it out and get something else awesome. You're the first to hear bad things about them, hopefully it's not all.
But it is fun looking and buying something new. Good luck.

Pappy!

Also sorry to hear this.
Did the shift issue start recently or has it been there all along?

It is not a shift issue and there is a reboot that is performed (run the DCT initialization for the transmission) it is the normal low speed downshift that comes to often and to harsh in my opinion. And you do not know when it hits.  Something Sherry's DCT CTX 700 clearly does not have. It is not the deciding factor, moreover a bunch of things like not the ride I expected and the saddlebags are just for looks. I suppose some want a sportier Goldwing, I do not. Having Raymond's Goldwing in Norway was a good thing as the four day trip to Senja sold me on the previous Gen 1800 wing. I want a touring bike.

Pappy!

I like your thinking!!

There's a couple of "new" pre-2018 ones at Schroader's in Hendersonville NC...
$20,000+, each has 2 miles on it, one is custom painted (Schroaders does that,
they're a BIG Goldwing dealer) ... a 2017 and a 2015 ...

Jerry,
That Blue & Black that Mike posted is pretty sweet! You always wanted the Blue & Black Valkyrie? Black pipes, black clearcoated easy clean wheels, two tone black & blue. Just needs black grips and side covers...done voila. I'm certain you and Sherry would look smashing on it. Ride up and buy Mike lunch, ride home on your new Touring bike. Stop by my place on your way home for compliments and I'll buy you lunch.

Honestly, having a custom color is not important to me on a Goldwing. Not even super picky on any color.

I know it is only a battery, but the wing does not want to start and the 1998 fires hot every time as to tell me, let's go dummy!   Yes they sure made one heck of a bike.
