An earlier thread mentioned installing an LED in the headlight bucket for turn signal.  Here is an LED bulb that flashes correctly in both directions.  No soldering, just plug it in.  Bright.

Those little LED T5 bulbs are plug and play replacements for the indicator bulbs.  I think the soldering inside the bucket you refer to would be for the diode kit

The diode is needed in addition to a flasher on some (but not all) LED flasher applications for the Standards and Tourers.

My switchback white to amber LED 1157 bulbs would not function correctly without having a diode installed in the bucket.

We know that for the little turn indicator in the shell, a typical LED will not flash for both right and left.  I proved it.   A previous thread said you could solder two together and get both directions. I also read something about rewiring the circuit.  Before I got out the soldering pencil, I looked and found non-polarized LED lights.  Cheap and easy.

I finally got around to installed the T5 2721 in my turn signal indicator. It does work as described with one caveat. I have a SM-3 to control my turn signals. I t cancels after 10 flashed if the brakes are not applied.  It also turns my rear turn signals into running lights by putting 5 volts on the turn signal bulb. Because of this, the turn signal indicator glows slightly even when it is not flashing. It does flash very brightly when a turn signal is activated.
