this winter i done quite alot of things to the trike. including putting in a new clutch. well last week i rolled it out of the garage took it for a spin and the clutch slipped real bad when i hit third. tickedoff Cry well back to the garage. i was very positive i had done everything right. proceded to tear the clutch back out this morning. checked everything.
 1. B disk in proper place, check
 2. all A disks in right, check.
Ok back to the drawing board. Cry i removed the spring took it all back apart then checked the manual again..
you remember that commercail where they hit themselves on the head and say. i could've had a V-8. Roll Eyes
well after a couple of minutes it occured to me. there is supposed to be a spring B ring that the spring sits on.
Since i had installed a new pressure plate i had totally missed that ring. installed the ring
Put everything back togather and out the door i go again. wala..my bike is back to normal...
Reason for this story. and post..if ya decide to install a new pressure plate when you do a clutch. it's not hard to miss getting thar ring out of the old pressure plate. Grin

How many miles did you have on the bike when u put a new clutch in?  Did the clutch fail or were u just doing it early expecting it to wear out soon?  Today I felt the clutch slip for the 1st time and I have 54,000 mi on my 2001 Interstate.   Dan

my clutch actually was working fine when cold.. after the engine came to operating temp i had alot of clutch chatter or clutch shake when trying to take off from a stop..extreme shake when trying to take off uphill. you could'nt feather into it did'nt matter how hard you tried... the clutch had 123,000 miles on it. ok to your bike. clutch slipping with 54,000 miles. i don't see it being the clutch unless someone has really rode the clutch handle alot..when a clutch starts going south it will slip more in higher gears than lower gears.. i would suggest putting in new clutch fluid, check the brass pivot in the handle and check the pushrod coming out of the master cylinder. if everything there checks out real good then you may have a sticking slave. remove slave from back of clutch basket clean grease and re-install it then bleed the clutch again.. when you grab the handle to pull it in..does your clutch start releasing about the first 1/4 inch of travel or does it wqait till the handle is closer to the bars..same going out..if you handle is completely pulled into the bars when letting go of the clutch handle does it grab closer to the bars or when it's getting out past halfway.. does the clutch handle pul all the way back to the handgrip?..

Thanks for the info.  I'll check out the things you mentioned.  I replaced the slave cylinder 2 months ago at the same time I went to a SS clutch cable.  The clutch releases after about 1/4 to 3/8" pull in and yes, the clutch handle pulls back all the way to the handlebar (so I guess the rivets are OK - read that in another post).  Thanks again,  Dan

ok you said you replaced the slave a couple of months ago..i would also check to see if maybe your fluid in your resivour isn't to high..if you have to much in there it can't return like it should which would keep pressure on your slave even if the handle is all the way out.
