I've lately been on a kick enjoying acapella music renditions of traditionally music with accompaniment..... One of the best at this, IMHO, is a band from here near me in Arlington Texas....

I always loved to sing.  Had a school auditorium solo (soprano) in elementary.  Sang in glee club (concert, men's and madrigal), baritone and second tenor, and state competitions, but never church choir.  Sadly, my voice is long ago shot.

I really enjoy any kind of pure acapella singing, especially in groups (barbershop not so much).  But ever since Whitney Houston started the super tremulo wild voice dynamics that has completely taken over nearly all commercial voice, I still prefer pure plain beautiful voices like in a traditional choir.

Nice, Serk. Talented group for sure. There has been a proliferation  of music posts on You Tube by both known and previously unknown  artists especially this past year with folks not able to get out to venues to perform.  That has been one of the "glass half full " ingredients for me over this time, for sure.
Sounds of Silence is one of the best songs  ever written....these young folks' version is outstanding!

I've always loved to sing too. Elementry school - the kids in our family were known to "carry the class" on the school Christmas presentation. 7th grade (my voice hadn't changed yet) - everybody (and most of them were in highschool) was amazed that not only did I sing soprano still - but I sang First soprano (the really high stuff) for the musical show we did. Then 8th grade and the Great crash set in - I had no idea were my voice was going to go and what range I could comfortably sing - it took several years before I finally settled in to something I could rely on - medium tenor with a range down to medium baritone (I can't quite manage the lowest bass stuff). I still have about a 3 octave range, add another with falsetto. One of the few who can manage the Star Spangled Banner (you all know how hard that is).

I also have sung most of my life, my voice developed early. As a young man I had some lessons, it helped create a full 3 octave range. A couple years back was asked if I still had that big range and I answered in the affirmative except now you can't hear the lower 3 notes and the top 3 you don't want to hear. Got a good chuckle from the group but it's pretty much the truth these days. Did a lot of singing in school as a kid, in church along the path of whereever life took me, but today I just make a jouful noise...noise being the operative word some days.

       Not acapella at al but I watched Lee Marvin in Monte Walsh the other night and Mama Cass was singing the title song? and I was reminded again of how crystal clear her voice was. And that she passed far too soon  RIDE SAFE.

Oh my, what a voice and she's only ten? My girls were singers, alone and as a trio but only the middle one had a high soprano such as that but she was in high school. The younger one of the 3 went on to semi-pro work after college, sang with the St. Louis philharmonic, in New York...not sure which/what stage, West Point cathedral, a number of other venues. All had beautiful voices but this little gal at age 10 just blew me away.
