Gotta lotta wind yesterday

My girl left to hang out with her friend late morning so I had some time to myself  . The Blue Angel needed gas so I headed to my usual fuel stop and continued to a burrito joint I like on Hwy 1, got two egg, potato and cheese burritos and headed up the hill to the beach. There's a picnic table overlooking the place I run, it's a fantastic view from ~150' up I'd estimate. Luckily nobody was there so I ate in peace and pondered where to go.

After eating I headed South on the 1 toward Del Mar but traffic was backed up due to road work, I flipped a U and headed East toward Lake Hodges and just kept going. Riding toward Escondido I turned right on San Pasqual Road and continued on to the 78 toward Ramona. Once in Ramona I stopped for gas again, 40 mi on the clock and she took 1.09 gals  , pretty good mileage!

I checked the phone and had missed 3 calls from my girl, she said the car was dead in a text and she was stranded 45 miles from me. Finally I reached her and she said the car started, she had neglected to put her in park  .

So I'm still free! It was going on 3 PM and I had a long way to go, my SO said she was fine to hang out by herself. I took the long cut home and headed on the 78 toward Santa Isabel, then turned onto the 76 toward The Hideout bar near Lake Henshaw, I took the winding back way to The Hideout and stopped there to adjust my weather gear. I had on a wife beater, a t-shirt, a long sleeve t-shirt and a nice flannel that blocks wind pretty well.. over that was my leather vest. In the trunk I had another insulated long sleeve shirt just in case, what I had on seemed ok so I headed out toward the East grade of Mt Palomar. It was chilly but I remained comfortable for the duration of the ride home (shout out to cold showers!).

This video is part of the trip up the East grade and part way down the South grade, it was cool, crisp and a wonderful ride. All total I was out for 5+ hours and got in 144 miles of badly needed wind therapy.

Yep, Palomar's over 5000 ft and colder storms dump some white stuff up there, it was just plain invigorating riding up there! 

Evan you're welcome, I'm glad to see you and others get out and brave the cold when you can, it builds a stronger mind and body.
