It looks like this may work for me, but are there concerns regarding the six ply rating, from what I read here, the sizing looks like it should work for my 99 standard at 195 x65x16. I would expect to need a few more rpm to hold the same speed. Is the fact that its six ply a problem?    Thanks in advance.

I think you may be swimming in uncharted waters zzed28. Every time someone tries a new CT they are the first to see how it acts. I have been through three and they have all been different. If you try it out, let us know what you think.
The most expensive things you will purchase, are those things you would not have needed if you had listened and obeyed.

6 ply might be too much and provide a very stiff bumpy ride IMO

I should clarify since I'm use to my truck tires.  A 6 ply sidewall would be a concern and very stiff.

It also could indicate single ply sidewalls.  Not in itself a bad thing, but I wanted more sidewall support for two-up and twisties.  The Austone was a two ply sidewall tire (so four on both sides), as is the Zeetex --  which has another four ply in the tread for a total of eight.

I think air pressures and shock settings play a bigger part on "cushiness" than ply ratings.

all vehicle suspension performance parameters always include the tires which are part of the system.

I wouldn't worry about the ply rating. My current favorite tire is a 195/65 in Radar Argonite RV4. It also has the 6 ply rating. I tried researching the tire you are looking at. There seems to be 3 different Vredestein Comtrac models. Which one are you considering ?

Vredestein  Comtrac 2 AS    6 ply is how its described.

I know that vredestein has a great rep re racing bicycle tires, I didnt know they made car tires.

Anyone else want to weigh in , please do.    Thanks all of you for attending to my query.  I dont have to get this done pronto but no doubt will keep paying attention here for more info. Will prolly need to do tires by mid summer.

I have ran and still running Shinko 777, which have a 6 ply tread and 3 ply sidewalls. You can run them bald and still have a lot of tread left. I can not tell you that they have made my bikes run any stiffer then they were before. I have run the Shinko on oven cooking days and days with 4 inches of rain on the road and they have been great. Several friends will only run the Shinkos because they have been a great tire.

Just winging it , a tire may state 6 ply rating , but may be a 2 or 4 ply tire.   From the older ratings , a stronger cording is used to increase the rating.  I do not have anything in front of me  , just going by memory.
