Servicing the differential on 1997 valk but unable to remove the drive shaft from the pinion cup.  What am I doing  wrong?

Ramie

There's a circlip on the end of the drive shaft in the pinion cup but it should pull out with a little force.
"I am not a courageous person by nature. I have simply discovered that, at certain key moments in this life, you must find courage in yourself, in order to move forward and live. It is like a muscle and it must be exercised, first a little, and then more and more.  A deep breath and a leap."

Take it out on the lawn where the grass or earth will soften the drop, then raise it a couple feet and as you let it drop...jerk on the shaft. Might take a couple times but it will come out, the circlip really holds sometimes.

Had one like one time. Had to spray it with WD 40 or something like that and let it soak before it would come out. Had like red rust in it causing it to lock up. Wasn't my bike but another person bike. Ended up changing pinion cup and drive shaft.

A modification of this...hold it up by the shaft over something soft (pile of rags, lawn, etc) and tap the side of the pinion cup with a hammer a few times.
