I looked a two CX500 on Friday both have been seating, the black 1982 for 9 years the 1979??
He only wanted $600 for both I thought about but it would be a lot of work and money to get at least one of them on the road again.
I know a guy that's an expert on CX 500s I tried to contacted him and unfortunately I found out he died this past November.
Back in 1983 I bought a new CX500 just like the black one and I loved that bike.
So I will past on the bikes but in was fun looking at them.

If you are looking for advice on a CX500 (or GL500 or GL650), you should should check out the CX500 Forum. A wealth of information from folks with decades of experience (sound familiar?).

Barn finds are wonderful and can be very disappointing/costly.

My last one, a 66 Corvette convertible with a 425 horse v8, four speed was my life long dream to own.   It was absolutely beautiful covered with years of dust.   I was so tempted I looked at every option I could come up with to try and get it into my own garage.   It was simply not to be.   Told another about it and he got it.   Turns out, he paid asking price and then spent huge dollars getting it road worthy.

Had I bought it, it would have sat in my garage gathering dust.   Just too much needed and way over my budget to make it right.   I'm glad it found a better home than I could have given it.

Barn Finds:

Begs the question..... how do you lose a barn?

I spend a boatload of money and several years restoring the '69 droptop Corvette I always wanted.

When I was finally done it was wonderful, but I was afraid to leave it parked almost anywhere.  When I got out of service in CA (no snow/ice), and had to move to VA (snow/ice), it had to go and I lost my ass on it's sale (like $7K minimum).

My takeaway from this was......... I'm never doing that again.  Bikes aside, I never want a car or truck that stands out or draws attention in any way (other than being clean and working good).

(No, I didn't ship it over there.  Just used the plate from my El Camino to cover the Corvette front plate cutout)

From my motorcycle diary

Honda CX500
500cc, V twin, water cooled, shaft drive, 112mph (not). Not a patch on the Laverda but a great despatch bike. Comfortable saddle (riding 1,000 miles a  week), low maintenance. Had this for about 2 years. Very early one morning in the company of a friend on a Suzuki GS1000 I raced down the Edgware Road in North London. Keith got chased by a Flying Squad (police) car and was stopped doing 130mph in a 30mph zone. He didn't get a ticket they just wanted to make sure the bike hadn't been stolen.

Nice motorcycle finds.  The ones in N.C. just wow.  And we were just down the road when we had the rallies in Maggie Valley from both of those collections/hoards.......  I liked the difference between hoarding and collecting is the illusion of organization.

Will I ended up with the blue bike (looks brown in picture) I got it for $50
I think it would be too much work to put back on the road.
I'll let it sit for a while before I decide.
