Do you remove your own rear wheel for tire changes?
If so, you have enough skill to consider this:

Or,  just replace the existing bearing, which is what I did. Might do the Mod when mine fails or next tire change (just put a new tire on, bearings felt fine). I've seen the axle spacers on Ebay for ridiculous $, but entire rear axles WITH the nut and spacer for the same or less $.

Collar, Rear Axle, 42313-422-000 is used on multiple model Hondas.

It sounds like wheel bearing. If you follow the instructions in Shoptalk about reinstalling the wheel, I'm sure if you brought the wheel to most mechanics they could replace the bearings pretty cheaply. Just follow the correct procedures when you put the unit back together.

I took care of his bike last week. He came over and did the work while I gave him all my advice.  
It worked out well and he's on the road again. Now he knows how to take off and reinstall wheel the proper way.

I'm in the same boat as needing a mechanic to remove my wheels. I need new tires and no tire shop will touch my bike as far as removing the wheels to install because it's more than 10 years old. Any suggestions? My friend has a bike jack, but I haven't done a removal and don't want to mess anything up. Is it difficult?
