Rick Flanders ( Flask ) has attended every Hillbilly Highway Ride we have done. He goes in the hospital on May 26 to have a tumor removed from his brain. Keep Rick in your thoughts and prayers as y'all know he is one of the good ones.

Gosh, I'd love to come to this.
Unfortunately for me, It's one pay day too close to InZane.   
Being born with good looks instead of rich parents does have  some bad consequences.

Hey, thanks for posting that! Glad y'all are going, too! If you've never been, then you're in for a very special treat! If ya have, then you already know. Anyway, there is the possibility of a longcut ride happening, at least in my case, so... If you and/or Bert have any interest in that, just say the word. Also, the Clinton meet-up and ride there is always an amazing social and actual ride experience in addition to everything else, so I enthusiastically recommend consideration of that, as well. I'm very much looking forward to hanging with y'all again!!!

Ohhhh, my friend! That is so true about a great time to be had!!! You are in for some adventures and wonderful experiences down the road that you can't even imagine... I get plum giddy myself just thinking about them again! All in time, though, and it is important to use the intervening time wisely in preparation... no shortcuts or express lanes, just do the right thing every time, all the time, and what lies ahead is... well, trust me, it is worth everything it takes to get there!

You've already had some excellent bites of the apple, but there is so much more yet to come! And, there is no telling from which direction good things may come at you. Who could, for example, have anticipated the experiences to follow when you first sought to sell you VTX and placed that ad...? Just meeting Sweet Checks alone became an opportunity that has and will pay huge dividends for years to come! For yours truly, it is the characters I've come across that is the absolute best part of my own experience... Anyway, hang in there, ol' bud, and get ready... The best is yet to come!!!

Yeah Bruce I already secured a room in Clinton on the 27th so we can ride in with the Cool Kids. Never done this ride before, but have been on a lot of the roads up that way. We are going to leave on the 26th and stop somewhere between FL & Tenn, then roll in to Clinton late afternoon. Let me know what plans u have, as nothing is in stone for the ride up, except getting to Clinton for the 27th.

Burke's garden is a GREAT place to ride to...

I looked at 42 with streetview, it looked good too... south of Nebo
looks exciting  ... alternatively, if too exciting, the Lee Highway
through there can be used instead of 81. I remember riding through
there once and every now and then I could look over and see all
the transfer trucks over on 81 and being all smug and stuff...

For the brave there's a farm/forest road 623 that runs south out of Burkes Garden. I rode it on my ST1300 years ago.  Some of the switchbacks were so tight I had to do a back and forth shuffle on a couple of them. And squeeze through some narrow overgrown parts.

A co-worker of mine that passed away last Fall mentioned Burke's Garden to me several times. It is a very interesting geological figure from the satellite images. Looking forward to visiting.
