Loop through Georgia with pictures...

The Red bike's "new" clutch (slave cylinder failed and now rebuilt) feels
great. Plus fresh fluid in both brakes. And I beeped the four new horns
I put on the BigBF quad horn bracket. My MarkT "stays-on" adapter
stayed on.

A few months ago I crossed the I85 Lake Hartwell bridge to Georgia
with the intent of riding around on unfamiliar roads and getting lost.
It worked, I got "stuck" on the other side of Lake Hartwell and rode in
circles. When I got back I calculated a good loop and put it in the BFGPS.
Today I went back over the bridge to ride on unfamiliar roads, confident
that I wouldn't get stuck:

I was still in South Carolina when I snapped this, I'm a sucker for
fields full of round bales...



It is great to go just around the corner into "unknown Georgia" and be in the
middle of nowhere on roads I don't know...



I passed this strange place full of old cabins...



They didn't just stretch back from the road, they stretched a
long way down the road...



It is Poplar Springs Methodist Campground...

What would be your guess as to the last time the camp was in use ? From the pics it looks like 60's or 70's.

Nice pictures....have always liked the Red & Whites, as they always seemed to look the most "classic" of the 1500 Valks to me when pictured out and about like this. But then of course, you see yours with the BFGPS....now there's a contradiction in technologies     Do you ever head out without it anymore, so you can go "riding around with the intent of getting lost"...just for old times sake? Ive always kinda enjoyed doing that (and been REALLY good at it) especially on longer rides down South. The Mrs not so much when she's with me...I tend to do a lot of fibbing ("yes dear, I know where we are")

I like seeing those rolls of hay in the fields as well, except up here it seems they wrap up 'em up in plastic pretty quick (marshmellows) so you rarely see them laying out like that.

Absolutely... In my post I mentioned going over to Georgia a couple of months ago...
no map, no plan except to stay away from Lake Hartwell. As I headed towards Lavonia
on 59 I figured I'd take a left somewhere and see what happens... I must have curved all the way
around, because I ended up riding in circles in that Reed Creek area... I could see the mountains
to the North, that was the way to home. But all roads led to dead ends at Lake Hartwell...

I go ride around GA and SC with no purpose or destination in mind. I'm on the coast end close to the boarder of each state so it really doesn't matter which way I go. My range is the Low Country and the Coastal Empire.

Have you ever ridden out to Bennetts point? Or the Salkehatchie river road? I went way
up the Parker's Ferry road once, I was glad I was in my truck for that one, Low Country
dirt roads are made out of sand  ...

Sometimes, I like to play "I wonder where this road goes".

I figure that I can always turn around.

My wife has an unreasonable fear of getting lost.

If she's with me and I decide to play the game, I have to lie to her too.

I think she's onto me though.

Every time that I say , "Yes Dear I know where I'm going", she asks "How much gas do you have"?

Did that for 2 summers as a 16/17 year old.

Good money for the work. Stack them in 9's for the tractor to pick them up and on to the trailer.

During the second summer I got promoted to driving a tractor and trailer. Trailer had a steering front axle. Couldn't reverse one of those now without my brain exploding
